Arte Moreno heightens expectations with his annual "vows" to do what it takes to bring home the ultimate victory, but with no follow-up comments to elaborate on what that means.
Couple that with a GM that is about as tight-lipped as it gets.
As a fan, I find myself interpreting these signals as meaning he's going to land Carl Crawford + Adrian Beltre + Rafael Soriano + with cheap tickets + with cheap parking + with cheap beer. It's not something I think of until he Arte makes his vow. I really don't think he means that, but I think a lot of fans think he means that.
Arte, shut up. Just tell the fans you're committed to developing a team that can return to the World Series. If the Angels can do that, they won't care how long it takes because we'll look back and say it was worth the wait. It won't matter who the players are, or what the payroll is, or how much the beer cost.
Stop making these "vows" that are open to wild interpretation. All that you want, and all that your fan base wants, is the end result.
You're the best leader the Angels have ever had. Now, lead us in a manner we can all understand to the promised land.
