Would I make this trade?
Not in 102 years!

Qualifier
Not saying I like this trade either way- just wondered what the reaction would be on this end.

You would have to structure a major payoff type of deal a la ARod Ranger-Yankee deal.
Would be ironic, in that Soriano was the centerpiece of that deal.

So
we trade our crappy OF for their crappy OF. I’ll take Rivera. At least he’s being paid millions of dollars per year.
Well Shit
maybe we can get Vernon Wells and Bary Zito while we are at it.
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....
do it

I think you guys in Chicago need to add more salad to your diets if this is what you're dreaming of
Juan Rivera, on his worst game, is a better LF than Soriano.
He also costs 1/4 the salary. Even with the Cubs paying the difference, I don’t see this improving our team in any way, and all it accomplishes is the task of running Soriano out of Chicago. Why should we take out your trash?
"I can't tell people what to think or not to think. Their perceptions are their perceptions. We just feel we've taken a step forward. At the end of the day, we have to play 162 games. Once that happens then we'll be able to evaluate the offseason moves."~Tony Reagins, on the Angels' offseason
Angels
Angels George. Where’s the subject line consistency we’ve all come to depend on?

If I have to pick between Rivera and Soriano?
I ‘ll take what we have . I’d rather spend money on IMPROVING the club rather than keeping it the same and being out dollars that could have gone to good use.
After looking at the comparable stats I’d say we are not getting that much more for the money. Let the Cubs dump Soriano (and his exorbitant salary) on somebody else, not us.
