Beltre to make decision Thursday?
Jayson Stark is saying that according to two clubs, Adrian Beltre will decide by Thursday (this or next, I don't know). If true this could make sense in light of the Takahashi signing. Possibly Ninja and Arte could have cut bait on Soriano and got another bullpen arm because they are close with Beltre. This could make the addition of Beltre and Crawford more realistic with spending less on Takahashi. The stove is warming up!

Thursday is today
I would be surprised if he signs with anyone today. Very surprised. Ecstatic if he signs with us though.
Everything I've heard lately indicates the Red Sux and A's
are the closest to signing Beltre.

angels won’t sign crawford. they will fall back on beltre and be disapointed with him. he only has good years in contract years. soriano will come to anaheim 100% sure

Statistically disproven. An absolutely false statement on your part.
What else you got?

I seriously love the connection of Beltre's timing to the Angels likelihood of signing him or Crawford....
First, I doubt Beltre actually said, “I’m deciding on Thursday”. That’s a non-founded off the wall guess by someone not affiliated with Beltre. And it probably has nothing to do with the Angels signing Takahashi.

Stark apparently is claiming that Beltre could sign with the A's as early as today
NBC is calling BS on this. As NBC points out:
While the A’s have reportedly made a five-year, $64 million offer to Beltre and the third baseman would prefer to play on the West Coast, his agent Scott Boras rarely acts this fast.
More criticism of Stark by NBC
I like me some Jayson Stark, but he needs to find a new set of rival executives to talk to. I mean, ask yourself: on what planet does Scott Boras respond pliantly to a team basically saying "look, we have to decide whether or not to tender contracts to Kouzmanoff and Encarnacion by today, see, so you and your guy had best make up your minds by midnight, OK? You know my number." Especially when he doesn’t even have offers in hand from the Red Sox yet. If anything, an offer with that kind of thing hanging over it would probably cause Boras to hold out on it until March on general principle. He just doesn’t play that game.

That's what needs to be done to Jayson Stark
These guys are useless tools of the closest agent or executive who wants to use them to get out a message.

If that's what they are doing then I'd hardly call them useless. That's very useful if you want to use the media (Boras).

All Boras clients express happiness in their current environment
I think we all recall Teixeira telling the world what a great place this is to play.
it is part of the negotiations. so no bridges are burned and other teams up the ante to pry the player away from his most recent team.
That said, I have long stated that I doubt the Red Sox can afford to let him go.

So, then, they're stuck with Beltre and Youk with Ortiz at DH.
Now, they can’t get A-Gon or any other first-base man—this year. So, if they get another power bat that plays first base, do they rotate that player and Youk at DH?

Why in God's name would someone want to play in Oakland
for any amount of money . . . I think he’ll sign with the Red Sox anyway. There is no way the A’s can outbid Boston or the Angels.
LOS ANGELES ANGELS . . . ANAHEIM DUCKS . . . CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS
FUCK STANFURD.
Angels
The Sox have signed Adrian Gonzales The Angels might have a chance now I would trade Napoli to the Dodgers for Chris withrow and a couple ohers bring up Trout for LF-Unless they van afford both Crawford and Beltre-But I think Soriano would be more help than Crawford—Also go ahead and sign Eckstien—Or maybe even go after Jermain Dye?
I bet Trout would still end up the best bet-remember Morales can play LF-Trumbo plays 1B and Trout can also-These 2 along with Conger are the best in the Angels future-Soriano would make the pitching top notch along with the starters—Beltre and Soriano would be the first choice for sure

I punctuated it
It still doesn’t make any sense. Less, in fact, than when it was freeform poetry before.
The Jermain [sic] Dye suggestion got me—let’s corner the market on aging OF with mobility issues.

Angels
SP Weaver-Santana-Haren-Pinero-Kazmir
RP-Soriano-Rodney-Takahshi-Bulger-Walden-Kahn-Palmer
1B-Morales-2B Kendrick-SS-Aybar—3B—Beltre
C-Conger—LF—Dye-CF-Peter-RF—Hunter—DH—Abreu
Bench-Wilson-Trumbo-Trout-Calypso
Trade—— Napoli-Rivera-Isturis
Or Play Games with Rivera throughout the season with Trumbo and Trout
This Payroll would be about 115 million not bad for the Angels
They could trade all three and Kazmir for Zack Granicke also?
Alot of moves left after getting Beltre and Soriano!
We're not getting Zack, nor are we getting Dye.
For us to trade for Greinke would most likely mean we’d get worked over by the Royals. Dye hasn’t played if a while, he’s not the player he was five years ago.

You are forgetting to account for the cumulative effect of the package
You mash those 4 together and get 350 hits, 55 home runs, 250 RBI, and he plays every position on the field and can pitch in a jam. its a 1 for 1 swap.

So we should be expecting Beltre to sign tomorrow, right?
Anyone? Anyone?
nay, Cliffmas.
