This is nothing more than speculation, but it was recently brought up over at Anaheim Calling that there may be a future Winter Classic (outdoor hockey game on January 1st) in the Golden State. Obviously, if it were at Anaheim Stadium, the Ducks would be the official host, but I would assume that the Angels/Arte would be closely involved as would the Kings (or whoever the Ducks would play: Red Wings, Sharks, etc). Other sites that were discussed were Dodger Stadium, the Coliseum, Rose Bowl (wouldn't work because of the Rose Bowl game), Home Depot Center (soccer stadium), or even AT&T Park/Candlestick in SF.
The commissioner of the NHL has said that he is open to the possibility of putting the game in a city with a warm climate . . . and it is not like it hasn't been done before: the Kings have played an outdoor (pre-season) game in Vegas! Putting logistical issues aside, would you as an Angel fan (and as a possible Ducks or Kings fan) be interested in going (or watching on TV) a hockey game at the Big A? Also, do you think that Arte and the Angels would be interested in hosting such an event?
I personally think that Arte would jump at the possibility to bring another high-profile event to Anaheim to help build the Angels brand . . . even if it is only the stadium they are showcasing and the sport being played is hockey. Also, I would be first in line to buy a ticket . . . it would be amalgamation of my two favorite professional teams! Haha.
