A's out on Beltre, Angels remain frontrunners
No major news here other than the A's were in talks with Beltre up until this week. Probably a quiet day for Rosie and he has a quota to fill.

Beltre is out of luck
He is about to be forced to take our offer.

Poor guy
I’m not sure if I can feel good about him playing for the Angels now. I’d just feel guilty if the guy goes hungry.
He has to feed his family.

Right. Who the hell knows anything nowadays, especially Farook Al-Rosenthal and his snappy bowties.
This is the space where you write a clever quote or something like that.

The only front runner that Scott Boras ever has on any deal
Is Scott Broras himself. No matter the player, no matter the terms “negotiated,” he always comes out a winner. Beltre is merely his latest client put up for sale for use of his services for the next X yrears at $XXX million dollars.
Yes, the team that “wins” the “bidding” for the player usually gets a good player for their trouble, but it still is one heck of a way to go to get a player of caliber.

I'd say
the same could be said for every agent in sports or entertainment

Lower our bid?
Oakland already offered 5/64 so we’ve got to stay in the ballpark I’d think, otherwise if he was too good a bargain you’d see someone like the Blue Jays or Twins swoop in. Tony should be using this window of disinterest to his advantage. Beltre is every bit the player Werth is and look where that went.

Oh shit. We're the front runners. That guarantees that he'll sign with someone else.*

Look out for the "mysterious interested 3rd party" to show up any time now.
It always happens and raises the price for the signing team.

Mysterious third party is the Strangers, as reported by a single source in the Dominican.
Probably on Bora$’es payroll.
