Shoulda gone with the gut

and guessed Colts for first FG. Figured they’d TD first posession and Saints would get a FG on their first. Ah well.

42 has failed me as a number. :(

One thing I love

They interview the losing coach in a cinderblock-lined hallway, alone, undecorated. No pomp. No circumstance. Just a dull doorway in the back as he talks to a nobody announcer.

He was a great player

But, ironically, loser of 4 Super Bowls himself. Probably the best qualification for that job.

Indeed! Who Dat? Nobody!!!

Though “somewhere” is way too damn far away from the party in NOLA. Going to be an epic next week-and-a-half….

What was the "Who Dat?" thing all about?

Sorry, didn’t pay attention to football this year. I did watch the game though and was rooting for the Saints.

Saints are from New Orleans —> Disneyland has a “New Orleans Square” -—> Disneyland is close to Angel Stadium —> I love the Angels -—> Ergo, I love the Saints.

God needed a starter. RIP #34

Awesome

Loved that the Saints not only won but beat Peyton Manning, the person in professional football I’d most like to kick in the face.

Same here!

The only thing that would make it MORE perfect would be for the Saints to pick off “Mister-can’t-walk-up-to-the-line-of-scrimmage-and-take-the-snap-and-just-use-the-play-already-called” for an interception to be returned all the way for the game clinching score as one of the key plays of the game, and get to watch Manning looking like Betty White as he gets blocked while trying to make the tackle.

And we get to watch this play forever, on the highlight reel for all recent Super Bowls.

Which, SINCE THIS DID HAPPEN, is why I can smile all week long.

Had I owned the Pittsburgh Pirates, I could have saved America.

Not sure why you and others hate manning

if what you just said is the reason it is a pretty childish one.

Why do I hate Manning? Because I am a Patriots fan. So I get to.

Fortunately, football is a game. A childish thing. So we get to go all childish and such for reasons that do not merit justification.

Beaing a Pats fan, and suffering the irrational hatred of the success of Tom Brady (you have heard of him, right? He of 3 Super Bowl rings???), I deal with this all the time.

Had I owned the Pittsburgh Pirates, I could have saved America.

Alright I can exept it since you are a Pats fan I just thought it is sorta dumb to hate him for no reason but being a pats fan is a good reason.

Question though do you at least respect him as a player?? Can you cause although I hate Brady I still respect the guy for being a player and all.

Oh, I do have to respect him as a player.

Give him the ball and three minutes and I have to fear that he will score. Gotta respect that.

But I don’t have to respect EVERYTHING about him as a player. That whole audible at every snap bologna bugs the hell out of me. By the admission of his own offensive linemen, half the time Peyton is just bullshng with his audibles. It’s all supposed to be about how smart he is, and how much of a master of the game situation he is. Nobody talks about how his need to burn his own 4 – 6 seconds off of every play clock forces the entire coaching system of getting plays and information from the booth down to the huddle to jam backwards up the command chain. It increases the margin of error, increases the risk of delay of game penalties, increases the risk of false starts, and reduces some of the critical thinking skills in game situations to be added by the staff.

Meanwhile, NFL defenses are not stupid. They know damn good and well that Peyton is going to be reacting and/or bullshng. If you watch the tape on the game yesterday, watch how the defense actually listens to Manning and reacts. Manning might have taken the Saints defense by total surprise twice in the whole game. Meanwhile, the Vilma adjustment back into coverage against Collie showed how well they were syncing up with Manning’s antics. That final pick to seal the deal was really just the Saints baiting Manning and biding their time. Manning’s mumblings did not change the fact that the Saints knew the play called was a pass, they knew that the order of pression would go to Wayne first or second, and they knew a blitz would force the pass early. Porter jumped the route (although, yeah, Wayne’s cut was slow and clumsy and made Porter’s job easy).

17 points. They held the Colts to 17 points. But the entire planet had to watch about 5 total minutes of Manning’s Masterful Audibilizing. And nobody has the cajones to call him out on it.

Seriously. Just play some football. I have long been tempted to put together a parody of Manning going through his daily life and everybody else putting him through doses of his own medicine in every simple interaction. Just to make the point.

Had I owned the Pittsburgh Pirates, I could have saved America.
