Always an Angel: Playing the Game with Fire and Faith

Barnes & Noble link to it in the title. I just found out about this now. When it comes out on April 1st, I'm definitely getting this.

Hell, I could write a Salmon career bio and fill more than 240 pages.

And I have nothing unique or interesting to say.

The novel I'm working on is now longer than Tim Salmon's book...

What does this mean?

Good Point

Quality is the important thing.

Come on now...

240 pages is pretty short for a novel. In fact, it might not even qualify as a novel at that length.

You're right, he probably won't unfortunately

I’m sure he’d like to but he has a wife and a ton of kids and other stuff going on.

Plus, DE is all the way over there…

I’m not even expecting him to come to San Diego.

Why Tim? Why?

Salmon is a great guy. But just cannot imagine that it would be that interesting.

Wonder about the angle for the book? Can’t imagine there would be much of a national market for a book by Tim Salmon. He’s not a controversial. He’s never was vocal about his faith. For much of his career he was not even the best player on his team.

by righteous halo on Feb 18, 2010 11:02 AM PST reply actions

Moreover

Moreover, its not like he has a compelling personal story (does he?). Unlike Kurt Warner, for example.

He’s just an all-around good guy. Which was great for us as hardcore Angels fans. But it doesn’t seem to offer much in the way of a book. Maybe that’s why its so short?

Dude I don't care if it's pure gibberish.

It’s written by Tim Salmon. I’m buying it, end of story.

Sarah Palin got a book deal

And Tim Salmon is lightyears more qualified to be writing than she is.

More importantly, he and Garret Anderson were pretty much the only players people knew on the Angels from the mid-90’s through mid-00’s. They were the closest guys we had to superstars when we won in 2002, maybe Percival also. He was on the field when Cal Ripken Jr. broke the All-Time Games Played Record, which is something we aren’t likely to ever see again. He helped win a rather dramatic World Series that went the distance. It won’t be a national bestseller, but at 240 pages a decent number of baseball fans probably would consider it for a casual read.
