Shields to miss start of Spring Training...
According to the Angels website, evidently Scot isn't as healthy as we all presumed he would be 8 (eight) months after surgery to repair his left knee's patella tendon. Lovely!
Scot, what have you been doing? I ruptured my achilles last June, had surgery July 2nd, and I am just about ready to go. Give me another couple weeks til Pitchers/Catchers report...oh yeah, I'm not on the team! WTF Scot, it's called physical therapy? You get paid to do this...

It's still February
Call me in April if this is still a problem.

Oh man your achilles is almost good to go to sit and post on HH?
Thats pretty much the same as playing in a professional sport and facing the best hitters in the world.
What the hell Scot, what the hell?
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....

Is it just me?
My presumption is that if I am an elite athlete who had a season ending injury I would be doing everything possible with the best PT’s around to make sure I am physically 100% by the time Spring Training begins…
I don’t want anyone taking my position in the bullpen.
I want to prove that at age 35 I am over my injury and focused on getting my arm/shoulder in shape.
This is a contract year for Scot…
2nd school of thought…it is a long season, take my time, make sure I am ready for Opening Day.
With baseball being such a “what have you done for me lately” sport I would expect the first case. Guaranteed contracts are what they are I guess.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby
Just dont compare your injuries to a professional athletes. Its embarrassing.
But, yeah, the dude should be giving his PT his all. Who knows if he is or not.

Shields drinks Bud Light...
maybe he waters down his PT as well?

Don't presume
You really have no idea what’s going on with him or how long it takes to fully recover. Besides, remember what happened last year when Escobar rushed back? It’s just not worth it.
Maybe they are babying him?
The article did say it was the Angels medical staff that travelled to his home and didn’t clear him to start pitching. I’m sure if it was up to him, he’d be out on the mound on day one.
Maybe they are taking the uber-cautious route after Escobar and all of our other problems last year.

If I remember correctly...
…he had patella tendinitis. There’s a footballer in the England, Owen Hargreaves, who’s been out for the best part of 2 years with this prob…
It might not be as simple as we’d hoped. Or on the other hand, caution might be a good thing…
I see red people
Big deal
If he is going to come back in April and DOMINATE then who cares.

I'm a realist
I think Shields is done, and I won’t be holding my breath awaiting his return to form.
#34, never forget.
Um, that would be "pessimist"

Heh
Yeah, I think everyone except the purposely self-deluded strives to be a realist. Even Steve Phillips.

Makes a little more sense why Rodney was signed "out of nowhere."

And GMJ shipped off for Stokes with most of his money

That gives new meaning to the word, stoked...
I hope he gets to play, it will open us up a whole new world of meme jokes this season.
