Fun story from my Spring Training trip
The hotel we stayed at was about 5-10 minutes away from Tempe Diablo, which made it perfect. Well my Dad went out to the pool one day and said that he saw some guy who "looked like a baseball player" going from an orange Camaro with Michigan plates in the parking lot into the hotel room 2 doors over from us. The next morning we see the Camaro in the player lot at Diablo Stadium, so I start thinking of Angels players who live in Michigan. My first thought was Scot Shields, but I wasn't sure.
Then, when we got back to the hotel after the Dodgers game on Monday, we see 3 guys in the parking lot playing with remote controlled cars, one of which my Dad says is the guy he saw getting out of the Camaro. We start walking to the hotel room, when I realized something. The three guys were Scot Shields, Jered Weaver, and Scott Kazmir. Kazmir was having trouble getting his RC car working, so we tried to help him fix it, never did get it working, but he signed a ball for me. It was a fun experience, but it got better.
Much later, we were at a resturant down the street a little bit from the hotel, just finishing up dinner, when Scot and Jered walked in. My Dad bought a round for them and we chatted for a little bit. When we got home that night, we realized Jered would probably start Tuesday's game. At which point, we started telling my Dad that if Jered sucked on Tuesday, it was all his fault. My Dad ended up lucking out though, since even with Jered's rough start, that was the only Angels win we saw.

Fun Story from Spring Training
My son and I were there from Friday to Monday. Although we saw four losses, we got to the park everyday around 9am and watched all the drills and the coaching on the outer fields. We heard and saw some really cool and informative things. We saw Scioscia working with the six catchers on the pitching field, we met some players and even their parents. We saw some really talented guys who will very likely be playing in anaheim in the next 2-3 years, like Mark Trumbo, Peter Borjeous and Corey Aldridge. We got to talk to Bobby Grich and Troy Percival was in the room across the hall from us at the Buttes…which was a 200 yard walk from Diablo Stadium. If you are a true Angel fan I highly recommend taking a day or a weekend and driving to Tempe this year or next. We are onto year 3 and will be doing this for a long time. Can’t wait for the season to start!!!

What’s wrong with having a beer the night before you pitch? It is the second six-pack that will do you in, not the first!
Great story MMP
Like other parts of my life, I can live ST vicariously/
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
This is what makes me want to go to ST one year...
Even if chances are slim I’ll experience the same, I still might accidentally come upon Santana sitting in lobby playing Naps in a friendly game of Sorry yelling ¡Perdón! over and over.
I have seen Mathis wearing a Guns N Roses T-shirt once...
Was he even alive when GNR was making headlines?
I love this team.

Too young to have had a little tiny baby moustache.

Fantastic post.
I wish I was there. I probably could have fixed that RC car and been a hero. Maybe get free season tickets or something cool like that. Probably.

Has anyone here seen Slap Shot?
It’s like that scene when Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman) walks in and sees the Hanson brothers playing with their cars. “…They brought their fucking toys.”
Wow Mike, you sure know a lot about laundry.
My vision was more Ocean's 11 remake and the scene where we meet the Malloy bros.
(But, yeah, I am old enough to have seen Slapshot in the theater. One of the greatest sports movies of all time!!!)

OK, now I have to make it out there...
Maybe next year I can convince the wife to take a couple days off…
A fun story from today...
Steve Soliz (bullpen catcher) was walking “the gauntlet” today before the game, and signing autographs. He was complaining — jokingly — about us making him late for lunch… and then he said that his wife would probably be grateful to us!
Nice guy.
