Its been a rough offseason by losing Chone Figgins, John Lackey, Vladimer Gurrero, and Darren Oliver. But the Angels still have a great team. Lets look at the batting lineup. Leading off at ss Erik Aybar who had a great year at the plate and in the field and he has great speed. Batting 2nd Bobby Abreu in right field, he can hit for average and for some power. Batting 3rd, Torri Hunter in CF but the best outfielder in the game today and can hit around 25 homeruns and he should of had more than 23 last year but that injury messed up his power season but stil had a great year overall. And of course batting 4th with matsui who right now is a better fit than Vlad. Batting 5th Kendry Morales who had a great first year in 2009 with 34 jacks. Batting 6th Juan Rivera will give you over 20 homeruns. Batting 7th Howard Kendrick who will win a batting title one of these days he was one of the best hitters in the league when he came back from AAA Last year in July. Batting 8th is Mike Napoli or Jeff Mathis. Napoli had a dissapointing second half and playoffs last year he couldn't hit at all and when the playoffs started Jeff Mathis showed up and hes better than Mike Napoli behind the plate. And Batting 9th is Brandon Wood who has proved he can hit in the minors lets just see if he can hit in the majors, all im asking from him is: 280. 15 homeruns and around 70 to 80 RBIs.
Lets take a look at our pitching:
It definently improved this year bullpen wise. And we did not replace lackey with piniero. Thats why we got Kazmir in August, Thinking Ahead Which some teams dont do. We have a great solid starting 5 in, Jered Weaver, Scott Kazmir, Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, and Joel Piniero.
Mariners:
Lets take a look at the Mariners. They have the best 1-2 punch in the starting lineup in Ichiro ans Chone Figgins. But is there really somebody in that lineup that scares you? A batter that will hit over 30 homeruns and over 100 RBIs? Is There? Not Really. Yes, they have Milton Bradley but he wont scare you in the lineup or that huge threat and he keeps ageing. They have Franklin Gutierrez but again not a huge threat. Remember the mariners lost Kenji Jojima and Russel Branyan this year and Russel Branyan was there best hitter with over 30 Home Runs. So there are question marks still in that lineup.
There Pitching:
Yes, they have 2 ACES in that Rotation but how bout 3-4-5? More question marks from there
I think the Texas Rangers are more of a threat than The Seattle Mariners, because the Rangers have great offense and young solid pitching and they added Rich Harden too.
