I think they maybe fixed it.

Yesterday during commercials they played ballpark sounds and the commercials concurrently. This is Spring Training for everyone I guess.

Rest in peace, Rory. When I think of some of the greatest moments in my Angels fandom, I hear your voice describing them. Thanks for everything you gave us.

Where are you catching this?

I just tried to tune into AM830 and there was no baisbahl.

Awesome!

I didn’t know it was free for Spring Training games…or at least I assume it is?

I just started listening and hear no announcer, just the PA guy and what sounds like someone playing catch and background music. Also can hear some fans.

Must be between innings.

by RedFog on Mar 5, 2010 12:44 PM PST up reply actions

Playing crowd sounds between innings, yeah.

Last year they did that all year, yesterday they played crowd sounds overlayed with the commercials. They’re still working things out. But probably there are no ads only because the game is not live on the radio.

Rest in peace, Rory. When I think of some of the greatest moments in my Angels fandom, I hear your voice describing them. Thanks for everything you gave us.

by AlanFalcon on Mar 5, 2010 12:46 PM PST up reply actions

Actually I like it...

…I HATE commercials so being able to hear the background sounds, sounds of the game, etc. is SO much better.

I imagine they will try and make $$$ at every chance so this won’t last.

Damn 5-0 already. I blame Reagins :P

by RedFog on Mar 5, 2010 12:52 PM PST up reply actions

Oh I love it, and I loved that they did it last year.

They were the only team who didn’t play ads between innings all last year (though IIRC they added them for the playoffs)

Rest in peace, Rory. When I think of some of the greatest moments in my Angels fandom, I hear your voice describing them. Thanks for everything you gave us.

by AlanFalcon on Mar 5, 2010 12:53 PM PST up reply actions

So how long is this service free?

I assume until the start of the season? I might subscribe since AM830 never streams live games.

by RedFog on Mar 5, 2010 12:54 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, MLB won't let them stream the games live.

I find the MLB Gameday Audio to be WELL worth the price, even with ads.

Rest in peace, Rory. When I think of some of the greatest moments in my Angels fandom, I hear your voice describing them. Thanks for everything you gave us.

by AlanFalcon on Mar 5, 2010 12:55 PM PST up reply actions

by AlanFalcon on Mar 5, 2010 12:57 PM PST up reply actions

Well, I'll sign up...

It’s great when I’m stuck somewhere with the laptop and need to get my fix.

Quality isn’t bad (you can tell they encode it down quite a bit) or they are using something like IIS smooth streaming and it’s adaptive to network conditions.

I’m at a Borders which doesn’t have the fastest public WiFi so maybe thats why it sounds a little cave-ish echo quality.

Either way, no buffering yet so nice service. NOW EFFING SCORE SOME DAMN RUNS!

O'Sullivan is SOOO BAD

Yeah it’s just Spring Training, and I don’t care. O’Sullivan hasn’t been an effective pitcher since Cedar Rapids, I was shocked the Angels promoted him last year. He’s in AAA this year, but in all honesty, he should probably be in Rancho lol.

Michael Ryan and Cory Aldridge, check out their minor league stats online, these guys are no joke, they can play. If Pettit can’t make it back, no doubt these guys will be in the mix for a bench spot if there’s an injury.

Sounds like the Angels dugout was really impressed with Reck's changeup

I know I was. I look forward to seeing him in the rotation in a year or two. It’s somewhat unfortunate for him each of our pitchers are under contract for another 2-3 years, he may be stuck in AAA for a great deal of time. The Brandon Wood treatment.

He’s a power lefty. Cedar Rapids’ manager Bill Mosiello raved about his fastball/slider arsenal to Baseball America, prompting BA’s Jim Callis to label Taylor a sleeper in ‘10. He’s left-handed. Taylor’s 2009 stat line was stellar, capped by a ridiculous 14.6 K’s per nine innings in the Midwest League. He’s left-handed. You get the picture.
