Best Angels in 2010
Let's play! Basically, all you have to do, is guess who will get more of a certain stat. And if you want vote on the poll. This sentence is so I have the minimum 75 words long in order to post this fanpost.
Who will hit more HR's, Mike Napoli or Brandon Wood?
Lower ERA, Saunders or Pineiro?
More HR's, Matsui or Hunter?
More K's, Kazmir or Santana?
More SB, Aybar or Izturis+Kendrick?
I'm going with Wood, Saunders, Matsui, Kazmir and Aybar

Kendry Morales and Juan Rivera will be the top 2 again
"You gotta have nuts." - Torii Hunter / Part-Time Nemesis of the HH Reply Function
Actually...
I think we’ll see Kendry hit around 28. But Hunter, Rivera, Mastui and Wood will all be in the 20-25 range. Not sure if I could pick one specific hitter for #2 in power.
Agreed
I think Rivera has the next most power out of the leftover guys, except for Napoli and maybe Wood. However, those two will probably be platooning. Due to being a full-time player, I see Rivera finishing 2nd again in the mid-high 20’s.
I expect Hunter, Matsui, Wood, Napoli, and possibly Abreu to finish in the low-mid 20’s.

I have light doubts about Rivera
His 2nd half slump last season a monster one. If he plays 150 games and doesn’t slump, yeah I think he can threaten to hit 30 out, but I think Juan’s a streaky type of hitter, similar to Hunter, which will keep him between 20-25 HR’s.
I think Wood would finish 2nd in HR’s were it he played that much but I just don’t see it happening. In 150 games I see Woody hitting 27+ HR’s, but I think Wood’s only going to play 115 games. Similar to Naps, I think he’ll bash 20 HR’s again this season but those 20 HR’s will come in only 95 games.
No love for Willits in the HR derby? :-)
- Wood
- Saunders
- Matsui

Naps will get the most home runs
both in bed and on the field.
Watch out ladies Naps is on the loose.

FATHER OF A WONDERFUL SON VLADIMIR
Sorry not named after Guerrero...but would be cool
Like a big irresistable bear
The ladies just want to hug him. Naps being the finely tuned ladies man that he is takes full advantage.
Kazmir is gonna make a run at the Cy Young.
And Halo fans are going to start saying “Lackey who?” come August.

I honestly don't doubt this
He’s still so young, and I think definitely the “real deal” if he can bring pitch counts down. Hell, even if he doesn’t really.

LOL that's what I like to hear!
Honestly I don’t think any Angels pitcher will make a run for the Cy Young, but I do think all will finish with strong numbers.
Weaver – 17 wins 200 IP 170 K’s 3.65 ERA
Kazmir – 15 wins 180 IP 160 K’s 3.50 ERA
Santana – 16 wins 180 IP 150 K’s 3.75 ERA
Saunders – 17 wins 200 IP 130 K’s 3.70 ERA
Pineiro – 14 wins, 200 IP 120 K’s 4.25 ERA
None of them Cy Young, but together, they’ll make the best staff in baseball.
i love it however I believe that Saunders after two years of 17 (last year was 17 because of his injury IMO) will finally get to the 18 win mark.

And I....
being the kool-aid drinking optimist couldn’t argue against it. Saunders is a lot better of a pitcher than people realize. Before his breakout year he was basically Dustin Moseley or Shane Loux, but left handed. Then, after an al-star season critics gave him a little bit of a break and named him a #5 starter.
I’m sorry but a lefty who hits his spots and stays at 92-93 MPH with his fastball, and has an excellent change up and eats innings, is NOT a 5th starter. Eventually people are going to realize he’s a #2 or #3 starter.
agree eventually people will realize that. I hope they do this year after he wins 18 games or no less than 17.
I think he could easly be a #2 starter but would probably in our rotation be #3 if they have Kaz at #1. I think he is #2 if we have Weaver at #1 though Im not sold on weaver taking that #1 spot.

I do expect Hunter to get some votes in your poll...
even if he’s the last to get one and doesn’t have any right now, but I had to go with Kendry.
As to the question posed…
I’ll go with Napoli, Saunders, Hunter, Santana and Aybar

gotta go with
Who will hit more HR’s, Mike Napoli or Brandon Wood?
WOOD, but maybe not by much. Depends on Nappy’s playing time.
Lower ERA, Saunders or Pineiro?
PINEIRO. I think he’ll surprise us.
More HR’s, Matsui or Hunter?
MATSUI. Again, maybe not by much.
More K’s, Kazmir or Santana?
SANTANA. He’ll be back.
More SB, Aybar or Izturis+Kendrick?
AYBAR. He has more speed than the other two, and he’ll (hopefully) be on base a lot.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
Morales, Saunders, Matsui, Kazmir, Kendrick
Morales will clearly hit over 35 homers this year
Saunders will be around 3.60 while Pineiro is around the 3.90-4.10 range
Matsui will have at least 5 more home runs than Torii
Kazmir will have more innings pitched therefore more strikeouts
Kendrick might not be as fast as Aybar but he knows how to steal bases succesfully, something Aybar does not know how to do.

crapshoot, yo.
wood- i’m seriously, this guy’s gonna be good.
saunders- way, way better pitcher than piney.
santana- because he’ll pitch more innings.
aybar- izzy ain’t gonna play that much.
"come on, eileen."
Here is how I see it.
Morales, who didn’t hit for power from his more natural right side, will lead the team with 35 bombs. Napoli will avoid the slumps he has suffered in the past and earn more playing time catching and spotting the DH with Matsui. 28 HR’s. The new thinner Rivera, playing every day, will be third with 27. Brandon Wood will check in at 24 as will Hunter. Matsui, with slightly less time will hit 22. Abreu will do better than last year from the power stand point and hit 20. Kendrick 15, Mathis 10, and Aybar, Izzy and the bench will combine for another 20 hr’s. As a team, the Angels will get smack 225 home runs for the season.
In the other categories;
Santana will have a break out season and lead the staff in wins (20) strikeouts (175) and ERA (3.45)
Stolen bases will drop this year, as will runners thrown out, but Abreu will lead the team in SB overall.
