Howie Kendrick Batting 2nd
Looks like Scioscia is switching up the lineup. Abreu batting 3rd and Hunter batting clean up.

i dig it
like… with a shovel.
but srsly, this should shake things up a bit, and hopefully take some pressure of some guys (Matsui). i’ve always been a fan of Howie hitting 2nd (or the idea thereof), so i’m really hoping this works out.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
Excuse me, do you dig graves?
Uh, I think they’re ok.
The time is out of joint; oh cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right.

Id love him to succeed in this role but for whatever reason he struggles in the 2 hole. No explainable reason why he would though

Not too sure about batting Abreu 3rd...
He hasn’t done much of anything lately. Except strike out.

I saw in the newspaper this morning he is happy about hitting 3rd
He said it helps him since he gets a chance to see more pitches before he gets up to bat.

With Izturis out, Abreu not being Abreu, and Aybar not being Aybar,
Scioscia decided to do something to try to get some speed (and possible OBP) at the top of the line-up so the other guys would have somebody to drive home. He’s known all along that Willits is not the solution.
Yes, it theoretically took pressure off of Matsui. However, I suspect it motivated him.
Howie has always been projected as a #2 or #3 hitter; he just hasn’t lived up to expectations yet. It’ll come; I believe it.
If everyone plays up to what is expected to be their norms, I think the line-up is GOOD.
