Photos: Angels Vs M's - 5/9/10

Well, I certainly didn't pick the best game to wake up at 8am and drive 4 hours to see. What can you do, though? I haven't been to see the Angels since 2008 when I was living in DC, so despite the horrid loss, it was good to see some pro-ball.

This was my first time at Safeco Field and the sixth big league park I've been to. Safeco is pretty great. It's right on the water front, super spacious and there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Hell, even the crappy foot long hot dogs weren't half-bad. Plus, the fans were super nice. Most of the game a long-time M's fan chatted me up a bit about the days of the Kingdome and watching Randy Johnson throw a no-hitter.

My only complaint is that M's tirelessly have constant entertainment and promotional BS running before and throughout the game in-between innings. Even the M's fan I was talking to was complaining how he hates all this stuff. Its been two years since I was last at  Angels stadium but I don't remember there being as much cheap entertainment as there was today.

As for the game...what can you say? Still not sure why Soth left Stokes in for so long. He never even bothered to get another reliever  warming up. It was like he threw in the towel despite the 4 run deficit going into the 8th. Its not like we had a huge chance but still. Oh well, in Soth We Trust.

Here's a few photos from the game...

(Wood: Still batting under the mendoza, like me? Figgy: Yep, but I'm making 31 million more than you to do it.)

(HK: Hey look, I'm the only one here who is carrying an average above .200. Figgy: Yeah, but you gotta make those dumb Howard's commercials)

(Kowbell about to launch one to...the...warning track. This happened all day. Nothing would carry for us.)

(ME...bummed.)
