Kendry Morales Surgery Ends His Season
Kendry Morales had surgery early Thursday. Details about the extent of his broken fibula and any possible damage to any bones in his ankle were not disclosed. What is certain is that he will not be in uniform again this season.
Reports that Morales could recover in time to help the team in September were not accurate. His 2010 season is over.
The Angels assured the media that the injury has been completely repaired and will lead to no chronic damage. Morales should be 100% for the start of Spring Training, 2011.
After team doctor Lewis Yocum decided to delay the surgery until the swelling went down, ankle specialist Phillip E. Kwong (a USC graduate) performed the operation today.

Maybe this will convince
for #8 to not be worn anymore. Well this sucks, but maybe Naps can pick up where Kendry left off.
Sadness
But at least they repaired it fully.
Morales just needs to focus on rehabbing and helping us next season.

No surprise there. Better to know now then be delusional about it
So the question is…Mike Lowell, Konerko or Berkman?
RIP Nick Adenhart
None of the above
Napoli for first. Let’s find out how many homers he can hit playing everyday. Mathis behind the plate. Time to find out if he’s ever going to contribute offensively. Let’s just win with what we got.

Completely agree.
Naps has one of the best HR/AB ratios in baseball. Let’s get the benefit of it for a full season.

Pissflaps
Alfredo Griffin needs to make Napoli his reason for getting out of bed in the morning between now and the end of the season
I see red people
Wasn't expecting K-Mo back this season anyway

Bad news.
So now we waste a few prospects for a one year rental. :(
I am fan various years ago.
Not sure that will happen.
Scioscia was quoted a couple of days ago that he’s content with a platoon of Napoli, Ryan, Quinlan, and possibly Frandsen or Wood (assuming Wood ever remembers what it’s like to make a bat hit a pitched ball).
Prior to them knowing Bam Bam would be out for the year.

So they said...
…and I don’t trust. Angel management seem to chronically under-report the severity of injuries (Escobar’s shoulder, Santana’s elbow, Kendrick’s hammies, and so on).
Move Naps There
With Mathis back, we need Napoli in the lineup. Keep him at first. Don’t trade away anyone down on the farm for a rental (unless it’s in the bullpen).
See in 2011, Kowbell. Already counting down the days.

good point
Napoli’s bat is as good as we could hope to get in a trade. It is as good as Konerko, as good as Derek Lee… and we have it … it costs us nothing.
Yes.
My only concern is some wacky ass trade that deep sixes our minor league stock for a veteran who ‘may,’ have hot streak thanks to a change in scenery and a steak from Mr. Stox.

Even though
this is a devastating blow, this alone won’t be enough to take down the Angel club. This also gives Naps more consistent playing time, which can be an audition for the DH spot next year. As long as Reagins doesn’t waste prospects for a rental the Halos should be fine.
I'm going to have to agree with you on this.
What if the Yankees lost Arod or jeter? If the red sox lost youkliis or pedrioa? The rangers without kinsler or Young?
Our resiliency is unmatched, and our ability to scale on the fly with the guidance of Soth is the reason we’re going to win our fourth AL west title this season.

It sucks for Kendry
But honestly, this is not that much worse for the ballclub. We knew he was out until September. If he came back on 9/1, there is no reason to think he’d be 100%. Best to let him heal 100% and use spring training to get his timing back.

Agree
If Naps can play a half way decent first base and hit the way we all know he can we can get thru this year and win the division. Who knows what will happen in the play offs. We lose no prospects and Nap slips into the DH role next year
Or everything goes to hell and we finish 15 games out!!

You left off the L. as in Left for you slow people. As in our best player is out for the year. As in if Michael Ryan and Kevin Frandsen/ B wood. are still in the lineup come Sept. (no disrespect to those players) we are screwed.

I agree with the general concensus here
The team has enough depth that covering the catcher position and first base should be no problem while also keeping Napoli in the line-up. Rotating Mathis and Wilson at catcher, and occasionally using Ryan and Q (!) at first when you want Napoli behind the plate has proven to work for the Angels as evidenced by their climb to the top of the division since Morales went down.
I really hope the Angels don’t waste any money or prospects on a rental player. Angels @ Doyers- GO HALOS!
Let's go Mathis! *clap clap clap-clap-clap*

What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

So are the Angels at an impasse regarding an every day first baseman? It’s time to pull the trigger again Arte!

boras client
i believe kendry is signed through 2013,if his prognosis is good is it too early to sign him to an extension now.he was one of the top 1st baseman already, getting better.right now might be the best time to extend his contract, hes injured ,not playing, because when that time comes boras will be asking for what only the yankees will pay.
We would have quite a bit of leverage on price
But your right – it probably won’t happen. If there’s a player I think the Angels really should lock up for life at some point, it’s Morales. I’d also throw Weaver and Santana in there for strong consideration.

I guess there’s always Weaver?
