Brewers Use Braun to Slam Angels, 12-2
Final score from Angel Stadium of Anaheim: Milwaukee Brewers 12, Los Angeles Angels 2
The Los Angeles Angels showed little of the baseball that earned them an 11-3 record on their roadtrip, as Angels pitching faltered and their hitting couldn't get going. Joe Saunders allowed six runs over 5 2/3 innings, highlighted by a Ryan Braun grand slam in the 3rd inning. Torii Hunter did his best Team England impression in the 4th when a Casey McGehee flyball bounced off his glove over the fence for a home run to make it 6-2. But Angels reliever Trevor Bell promptly allowed four earned runs on five hits over 1 1/3 innings, putting the game out of reach. Brewers starter Randy Wolf got out of early jams and finished strongly, allowing two runs on three hits over 7 innings.
More bad news came for the Angels in the 7th when McGehee took out his frustration at being hit by a pitch by taking out Erick Aybar on a late slide to break up a double play. Aybar needed to be assisted off the field. A hyper-extended knee is the diagnosis at this time, and he is considered day-to-day.

According to the OC Register
Hyperextended knee and day to day.

(Can’t remember who posted this link originally in the game thread.)
Hopefully the hyperextension is all it is.
surprised at Prince’s low average w/risp.

When I saw a replay of the Aybar hit, I said to myself "hyperextended knee". Seriously.
He should be OK.

depends on how bad.
being the pessimist i am, a tear will take him out for at least the rest of the season.
not for the rest of the season, but...
day-to-day as the Angels official site reported.

I realized why
the Angels don’t have as many comeback wins anymore. Sosh always puts the bad pitchers like Bell and RRod in whenever its a +5 run deficit.
method to the madness..
If I’m not mistaken Jep, Rod, and Fuentes both threw Sat and Sunday… Not that they can’t go 3 days in a row but when you’re chasin by a handful late in the game it makes for a good opportunity to get other guys work while giving them some rest.. I’m not saying (nor advocating) they were throwing in the towel, but there are a lot more games to play and win. Trust in the Soth.
A loss like tonight's is Exhibit A on why any sabermetric analysis...
…based on Pythagorean Record is effectively bullshit.
A ten-run loss is no different than a one-run loss in the standings, but is effectively equivalent to five two-run victories according to that flawed function. Such a team that goes 5-1 on the week is “lucky” based on one exceptional loss — and should really be a .500 team — according to the metric’s enthusiasts.
I have no idea why the Pythagorean Record is supposed to be statistically sound. All runs are not of equal value. It fundamentally misunderstands the dynamics of the game.
Logic will not be tolerated.
Repent, lest ye be damned!

Soccer blows. Or Futbol if you prefer.
Just my humble opinion.

Agreed.
Reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Kraemer does the AIDS walk and is told that he MUST wear the (AIDS) ribbon.

Sorry, just don’t like soccer.

Also, YWC, the caption says Maicer is the second baseman. If you can edit that, he was playing third during the Ryan Braun grand slam.
I love this team.

dunno...
I was at the game just shaking my head wondering how the game could get any worse. Aybar being carried off answered that question.
I love this team.

I'm glad I wasn't at that game, sounds pretty brutal. I hope you at least had your snuggie.
I've got nothing.
I curled up in the fetal position and stuck my thumb in my mouth...
when Torii went “JOSE CANSECO” on that ball.
I love this team.

Ya, that was ugly. No one could believe what had happened, including Torii.
Though I think it was Q’s error after Aybar left the game that just made me say “F*ck this game”
it didn't bounce off his head though

I think so...
But i’m a homer. In the very least it was unnecessary, with such a sizeable lead.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
I'd agree that with a 7-run lead you shouldn't be doing that.
He got plunked after there were already 2 hit Halo batsmen. Deal with it McGeek. It ended up 2-2 in the HBP category, but that takeout has left the Brewers in the douchebaggery lead.
I love this team.

Well, we have to turn the page.
Another loss against a less than stellar pitcher, and Aybar may be on the DL. A craptastic game all around. Hopefully we rebound tomorrow. POTG the earthquake, at least it took our mind off the game for 15 minutes.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
I thought that rocking was Prince Fielder jumping.
There was a quake?

"I'd give it a 2"
for the level I felt at the Stad. I swear it was Fielder jumping around.

Felt it out in the Pavillion. Thought it might be a quake, or just concourse vibrations.
But definitely felt it.

I think we need another BOTG choice...
Actor James Denton
As soon as he came into the broadcast booth and started yucking it up with Victor and Gubie, everything started to fall apart.
And, yes I I had to look the guy up on Wikipedia. Don’t watch much TV.
God needed a starter. RIP #34
And... he touched the Travel Gnome. That did it right there.

The guy they had in the booth in the 3rd inning.
He’s on Desperate Housewives, and I think he’s part owner of the OC Flyers.
He was yakking it up with Victor and Gubi… and he TOUCHED THE TRAVEL GNOME!!!! That caused the bad mojo.

ahhh.
Never seen Desperate Housewives (the TV show). I’ve seen a few of them in real life, though.
I love this team.

My impression of last night's game:
What a worthless piece of crap is Prince Fielder.
I'm not as bad as all of you.
