Texas Rangers Collapse Speeds Up in Anaheim
Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 9, Mark Cuban's EBay bid: 7
The Angels took over sole possession ... of 2nd place with a comeback win over the Trade Deadlines of Arlington on Friday night in front of a crowd of Angels faithful that have not given up. Two four-run innings highlighted a victory that saw the team start the game down 5-0 after 2 innings.
Ervin Santana has had so many losses and no decisions when he allowed 2 or few runs that it is ironic he should get a W on a night that he coughed up 7 runs, 4 of them earned. Fernando Rodney pitched a scoreless inning, increasing his trade value.
Hey... who knows?!?! The Rangers have a slimmer first place lead than the 1995 Angels did at this point in the season.

Here's hoping they come storming back in August and September, then take no prisoners in October.
That would be just dandy. But I guess they should take one step at a time.

if they came back to win the division or make the playoffs
they would win the world series.

I went into Juan Rivera sleep and altered his dream....
I made him think that he’s better than Willie Mays and the rest . I guess Inception really works .
I was shocked.
An offense that could advance runners, clutch hitting and our bullpen didn’t implode. Now lets keep this up tomorrow, and get Haren his first much deserved W!!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
NUMBER JUAN!!!!!!
Seriously, I was out on a pub crawl and saw a highlight which led me to believe Aybar had hit a grand slam. Either way, it was sweet. I’ll be takin’ my boy from Germany to his first live baseball game tomorrow night.
In case you missed it… NUMBER JUAN!!!

I dunno if you guys realize....
But two more wins and all of a sudden, thi race gets very interesting with Texas going on to face the Red Sox and Yankees and Rays and the Angels facing the likes of Kansas City and Detroit.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not entirely interesting yet, but make no mistake, the Angels have an opportunity to make things VERY interesting in the next couple weeks. After all, isn’t that all we can ask for at this point? Just a chance.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
Honestly
I don’t even care if we win the world series. If we come back and beat out Texas and make ll the experts scratch there heads in total confusion I’ll be so happy. And then to see LSB blow there entire blog up. And after all that, we can win the WS!!
Now batting, our rookie of the year, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike TROUT!

P.S. Texas will stop at nothing to prevent a collapse....
They are bringing Rich Harden off the DL tomorrow to face us, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, they are sending scheduled starter Scott Feldman to the bullpen. The Angels are countering with newly acquired ace Dan Haren.
No biggie guys, all we gotta do is win. :)
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
Oh man. I'm going to be glued to this game.
I’m ready for some Halos home cookin’.
Like I said yesterday. Let’s win this damn thing.

Vladdie has begun
his typical, predictable mid/late season swoon.
Great win
Can’t help wondering what the illusion really is: last night’s inspiring come back or the lackluster uninspired play season-to-date.
Does one win mean that Reagins will be a buyer or a seller over the next 12 hours or so…..
some small measure of solace
is that texas isn’t messing around. trade after trade after trade.
i know they’re gearing up for an october run, but it also reeks to high heaven of desperation. as if they are trying to ensure there is no possible way oakland or laa sneaks back into this.
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart - Always an Angel
It's the smart play

Santana finally gets some run support, amazing !!!!
This has been Ervin’s most consistant year on the mound but his record doesn’t reflect it because he has not had much run support from the offense. Past years when Ervin would take the mound i was always slightly panicked wondering “which Santana” are we going to see tonight, this year he has pitched his beast and most consistant to date and he is becoming a very good, possibly heading towards dominant pitcher if he keeps improving his consistancy. This could be just the win the Halos needed.
Really? You are going to take yourself that seriously? Well I guess someone has to.
We win One (1) of the last FIVE (5)
and it portends the Rangers “Collapse”???
Two days ago this thread couldn’t trade Rivera for a bag of popcorn.
We are Eight (8) back. That requires a lot of spin, since the Rangers 2 thru 5 hitters are averaging .324, and our 2 thru 5 hitters are averaging .255, and we have pitchers banged up and they have the 2nd best ERA since the All * break.
I am rooting for the halos, but one game does not turn around a loser season.
