How active will we be at the deadline?
Honest question. The Angels have pressing needs and as Mike Scioscia pointed out, it's a process. So with your input, I'd finally like to gauge what exactly the FANS THINK, the Angels will do. I don't seem to remember anyone predicting the Mark Teixeira trade, though there was speculation, and the same goes with Scott Kazmir (Karmis). Will we bring in a bat? Will it be a bopper or more of an base stealing threat? Will we bring in an arm? Will it be bullpen or rotation?
If I'm just gonna throw out names in a feeble attempt at accuracy I'd say the Angels land Adam LaRoche and Dan Haren, for the price of Mark Trumbo, Bobby Wilson, Trevor Reckling, Scott Kazmir and enough cash to cover a solid portion of Kazmir's contract.
Now of course, I can almost guarantee this won't happen but I'm HOPING the Angels can pull off something to this measure that could potentially fix temporary holes.

The only real depth we have is at catcher
And we’ll probably trade some of it for a pitcher. Most likely a reliever.

SELL SELL SELL
As I stated previously:
SELL Matsui
SELL Abreu
SELL Juancho
SELL Fuentes and/or Rodney
This team is boring, old and while some say they aren’t playing to their potential, I believe, with the likes of aging stars like Abreu and Matsui, are actually completely playing to their potential.
Lets get some draft picks, shore up the minor league system which is looking dangerously thin in the upper levels and let some young studs like Bourjos, Conger or hell, even Trumbo, play out the rest of the season.

DING DING DING
This right here. There are no real upgrades out there that will cure this team out of it’s season long funk, and it’s not worth it to blow even more prospects on middling talent. Let’s reboot and take another crack at this next year. And honestly, selling off those guys you listed could actually improve the team THIS year.
Totally agree with you
Lets see what the young guys (Bourjos, Conger, Kohn, Trumbo, etc) can do playing with Kendrick, Weaver, Jepsen, Santana, Napoli. Maybe they can bring new life to this club. The Angels got to start using there minor leaguers and stop signing past their prime players.
How do we get draft picks from selling?
I’m not disagreeing with your idea, but draft picks can’t be sold.
we would (hopefully) collect prospects in return for our players
So it wouldnt be drafting, but it would replenish the minors

I'm not so sure anybody would take Kazmir at this point
Even if we paid a lot of his contract.

Sell !!!!
This team is not one or two players away from winning the World Series. To make a trade that requires sending any of our top 30 prospects just to win the division is stupid and pointless. The roster needs a total make-over, get on with it…now.

Guys you completely missed the question....
I asked what you think we’d do, not what you think we should do.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
What we should do is the more important question.
And like stated it above, with a few weeks before the deadline, it’s gut check time. We are not one hitter or one arm away from playing for it all. We have a good team, but it’s been a season long scuffle so far.
SO. Do we A.) move along blindly and bring in player A and player B (keep in mind every team out there wants Trout) or B.) Let this season go 2003 and 2006 style. We dump some payroll and a few “whatever” players, and retool for next year. Maybe even make a play for Lee in the offseason.
But I’m not down for dumping a few prospects just so we can end this year with a winning record. That’s just stupid.
Alright Brandon, you're free..........and we're waiting.
I'm not ready to give up on the season yet.....
If we keep losing ground and we’re out by 8 or more games at the trade deadline, then I’d seriously consider what you propose. Still it’s not the point of the post. What do you think the ANGELS will do, not what would YOU do.
Coincidentally, does anyone remember the awesome Nickelodeon show “What Would You Do?” Oh darn I got pied in the face because I answered a question wrong! But the crowd would go nuts like it was amazing.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
I don't remember that one.
But I do remember “Are You Afraid of the Dark” and being scared shitless by it.
Alright Brandon, you're free..........and we're waiting.
Just for funsies, check out our team once healthy and after the dream trade
25 Man Roster
SS Aybar
2B Kendrick
RF Abreu
CF Hunter
1B LaRoche
DH Matsui
LF Rivera
C Mathis
3B Izturis
BENCH: Wood, Frandsen, Napoli, Willits
ROTATION: Weaver, Haren, Santana, Pineiro, Saunders
BULLPEN: Rodney, Jepsen, Bulger, Kohn, Thompson, Fuentes, Shields
That team looks better than the current one, in my opinion.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
Still wouldn't win in the playoffs.
LaRoche has never played in the AL and I don’t think he’d do as well. That my opinion. If we can dream of a bat I want Dunn. I know he hasn’t played in the AL either, but the dudes track record kind of makes me think he can be stellar in the AL too. But again my opinion.

The reason I like LaRoche is he's a great 2nd half hitter.
He’s a lock to end the season batting .275 or above, with 35+ DB’s and 25+ HR’s. If he does what he’s done every year for the past few years, which seems more than likely, he still has a lot to offer a team.
Dunn would be good as well, but I bet his price tag will be much higher than LaRoche’s. The Nats have to keep in mind that they’ll probably compete next year and they’ll need his bat AND if they do lose him to FA, they’ll still get two 1st round draft picks. So if we wanted to pry Dunn away from the Nats, you can bet it would cost us 2 first round talents and a couple of higher prospects. His price will probably be Trout, Richards and Trumbo.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
We should also bring up
Conger, Trumbo, Gorgeous, Kohn, Trout, and Auer just for the hell of it! Lol Jking

Well some of them should be promoted....
Right now Conger’s probably our best all-around catcher. By that I mean he’s a “B” defensively an an “A” arm and can hit for power and average and is a switch hitter. When we consider Napoli is a power hitter that’s a “C-” behind the plate and Mathis is an “A” behind the plate but a “D” in the batters box and Wilson is a “B” behind the plate and a “C-” at the plate, it’s clear we could trade one or two of them.
Also, Trumbo would really do no worse than McAnulty and probably should be promoted, he’s already on the 40 man. Bourjos probably should be playing too with nobody hitting or playing good defense. Kohn should have been up a month ago. Trout belongs in Rancho or AA, not in Cedar Rapids, and Auer’s right where he belongs.
What you joke about has some merit.
We betrayed Vlad, the greatest Angel. Epic fail.
Well I was just kidding about the Trout promotion
although I’d go watch him. But i’d love to watch Bourjous and Trumbo and Conger. Kohn would be fun to, watch the nastiness. But Trout was really the only one I was messing around with. But I agree with everything you’ve stated. And I’d also love to watch Conger. It can’t hurt right? I think if were still down in September they’ll get called up.

Napoli is better
than LaRoche, and better than Mathis. That lineup is worse than what we can put out there with no trade. Haren is very good though.
Also, check out Haren’s batting this year. How about we get him in the lineup and DH for Wood?
"That boy is our last hope" - Obi Wan Scioscia, as Francisco Rodriguez left for the Mets. "No, there is another" - Yoda Reagins.
I think LaRoche vs Napoli from here on out, LaRoche is the better of the two.
If Mike wasn’t such a downer, we could have Napoli and LaRoche in the lineup at the same time. That seems like it could help. Haren’s having a down year, we should try to buy low because even on his down year, he’s still looking like a potential ace.
