See Angels Batting Practice from On Deck Circle While Raising Funds for LLS
Hello, Angels Fans!
Halos Heaven has been kind enough to grant me the permission to post about a unique eBay auction for which all proceeds will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Angels Baseball is a sponsor of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) annual Light the Night Walk (LTN). The LTN Walk is LLS's nationwide evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. This year's walk will be held on September 19 at Angels stadium and participants will walk a two-mile route around and through the stadium carrying illuminated balloons: white for patients and survivors, red for supporters, and gold for teams walking in memory of someone.
Thanks for considering our auction. We are very grateful to the Angels organization for donating such a great auction item to help fund life-saving research.

Did we see you on the field last night prior to the game?
"Wastin away again in Minor-Leaguer-Ville..."
P.S. - I did take a couple of bids at these.
I got outbid anyway, but I am suspicious about the competing bidders…

Go look at the bid history.
When I first went in, the high bid was $162.50. THAT particular bidder has a rating of 84 and when I looked at THAT particular bidder’s profile the only bid they have made in the past month is this bid, on this auction.
So I used my wife’s account to place a $200 bid.
I get an immediate notice that there is an auto bid setup by somebody and I have been trumped at $202.50.
So I make another bid at $240.

Ok. That’s it for me. At least I drive the price up $80 for the charitable cause.
But who is winning now?
Oh. It is ANOTHER bidder. With a DIFFERENT rating (152). THIS bidder has only bid on three auctions, and those were ALL special event tickets. And 2 of those other auctions were with the same seller.
Hmmmm.
What are the odds that these two, who bid so infrequently, magically BOTH land up in this one particular auction in all of eBay? On the same day? And one of those bidders seems to be fixated on our seller? Could it be that these two bidders are really insiders to the charity program who are driving up the auction?

Sounds like shill bidding to me
I’ve seen this happen at an auction listing for some tickets in 2008. The same tickets were listed three times and I was outbid by the same person (who won twice). I filed a complaint under shill bidding .
I would be very interested in the closing minutes of this listing to see who wins and if the tickets get relisted.
Alternate red Angel jerseys FTW!!
YUP.
And if you look at the hidden name granted by eBay to the two bidders, they look like they may actually be the same person using a slight variation in their two account ID’s.

After looking at the bid history and their associated profiles
This doesn’t seem like shill bidding to me.
(#)152 could have put in a high first bid from the get-go. (#)84 takes a crack at it but not enough. (#)239 makes two passes and still not enough since the first bidder entered a higher bid earlier.
(#)152 could still be related in someway to the seller by posting a fat first bid that makes other bidders bid high to take the lead. I would be curious to see if (#)152 gets outbid and/or bids again to increase the buffer between the current bid and his/her high bid

I agree,a nd came to the same deduction on sequence. But I still see the possibility of shill bidding.
1) Parties “a” and “r” put up an auction.
2) Party “r” posts a shill bid at $300 on the 5th.
3) Party “a” posts a shill bid at $160 on the 10th, not realizing or remembering that their follow worker at the charity office already placed a shill bid to set the Reserve at $300. This kicks the price up to $162.50 for party “r”, negating the bid of party “a”.
4) party “a” see this occur, and halts any subsequent bidding activity.
