Oh, and the AL averages for SLG and ISO are .410 and .148
We have three above-average sluggers in our lineup, two of which are within the margin of error for “average,” and just two guys with above average ISO (one of whom is batting leadoff).
We’ll probably score 10 runs again.
Only 4 runs today...
With some decent defense, it would’ve been close. Soth called this lineup (and yesterday’s) “creative”…
Whateverrrr!
Who needs sweeps
as long as we win 2 out of 3 from now on………
Also any lineup that features Mathis is an embarrassment. The guy is a joke. We win 2 in a row with Wilson, the one guy in our rotation that Wilson probably has the most experience with in Bell and he’s sitting on the bench. And don’t give me any of that he just played lastnight, Wilson is young and capable of playing and if he doesn’t then Napoli should be. And if both of them were somehow partying lastnight and still haven’t been found, then you DFA Mathis and bring up Conger. And if Conger is hurt you call up Budde, And if Budde is at his child’s birth then you trade Mike Trout to get Jose Molina back.
Mathis played well today...
He was not to blame for this fiasco…the relentless bashing of Mathis is tiresome. I have no idea why Soth does not like Napoli as much as many on here love him. There must be a good reason since it is HIS job on the line, not ours. I question playing Howie at 1b and Collapso at 3b more than anything…
his OPS for the game was .500
I saw him struggling mightily with balls in the dirt. If that’s playing well then congrats Mathis!
I think this is the let's get in better position for the draft next year lineup.

I'm even more bothered by this
Walk rates in today’s Angels lineup:
1) 12.7% Abreu
2) 6.9% Aybar
3) 4.9% Callaspo
4) 8.2% Izturis
5) 6.7% Rivera
6) 3.9% Kendrick
7) 10.8% Willits
8) 3.1% Mathis
9) 5.0% Bourjos
The American League average is 8.6%. So there are two guys who are above average. It’s not much of a surprise that this lineup only took one walk in the entire game.
And I was pointing out the other day in the game thread, that this team was 25th in the league in BB

And to think...
The Mariners thought they were going to win the division this year with a mightily similar punchless lineup.

Next year
We have talked a lot about signing Carl Crawford to fix the defense and provide speed at the top of the order. Can we sign Adam Dunn to DH and fix the offense too?
I don’t think a year of Bobby Abreu hitting .260 with 15 homers is going to cut it for DH production.
"That boy is our last hope" - Obi Wan Scioscia, as Francisco Rodriguez left for the Mets. "No, there is another" - Yoda Reagins.
Although, maybe if he wasn't playing the field, Abreu could concentrate on hitting
Might be able to conserve energy. (shrug?).

Isn't it reasonably accepted that BAbreu
is destined to DH most of the time next season? He’s under contract, at least through 2011, possibly 2012.
Why not let Willits hit leadoff?
At least he gets on base!
Izturis batting 4th is an embarrassment.
