Just wanted to throw this out there considering we are all thinking next year, free agents and payroll issues.
The problem going into 2011 is that we have a lot of players locked up, owe money to GMJ, are still paying Kazmir and face arbitration with players who are in line for considerable raises.
But the hope for 2012 is that a lot of that money comes off the books: Kazmir, GMJ, etc. If the money is coming off in a year and the Angels believe the free agents they get in 2011 will be enough to win then and years to come, what would stop them from going high in payroll one year knowing they can get back to a level they are more comfortable with in 2012?
Obviously, the impact is the idea of signing both Crawford and Beltre is within the realm of possibility if the Angels front office comes to this conclusion: If it were 2012, and we were in the same position, would we sign these players?
