This is a traditional Chinese translation of Suboptimal's epic, heart warming tale about a baseball team in anytown. A friend of mine from a text-based bulletin "ptt" of Taiwan contributed to the translation. I thank him for allowing me to share it here.

第一章

安妮鎮（Anytown）少棒聯盟裡所有的孩子都想為大麥克打球。每個人都認為他是最佳教練。他的球隊在更高等的聯盟裡比賽，總是打得很好，贏很多場球。他對自己的選手總是說好話。他是最棒的教練。

大麥克有兩個兒子。傑夫（Jeff）是哥哥，高大又靈活。人們從他很小的時候就對他讚不絕口。每個人都認為他會是很厲害的棒球選手。他想和他爸爸大麥克一樣當捕手。

小麥克是弟弟。其他小孩叫他麥基（Mikey）。他矮矮胖胖。人們在他小的時候就沒那麼稱讚他了。他們忙著讚美他哥哥傑夫。麥基也想和爸爸、哥哥一樣當捕手。

第二章

小麥克代替了哥哥在球隊裡的位置。他非常興奮。他很高興能有個機會讓爸爸看看他的打擊有多棒。他的打擊很棒。他打了好多支全壘打。他比全隊所有人更會打全壘打。

可是大麥克對他的兒子不高興。他對麥基說，他的打擊率太低。他對麥基說，他被三振太多次。麥基說，他能用保送和全壘打來彌補。可是大麥克對他兒子說，他只會「在壘包上擋路」。麥基總是想不通「在壘包上擋路」是什麼意思。

第四章

亞瑟先生告訴大麥克，傑夫被三振的數量比小麥克更多。他告訴大麥克，傑夫的打擊率是高等聯盟最差的。他也對他說，傑夫當捕手也沒當得比小麥克更好。亞瑟先生說，大麥克應該給小麥克更多上場機會。

麥基抬頭看。他眼中滿滿的淚水讓他什麼都看不見。他感覺有人把一塊布塞進他手裡。是一條手帕。他用它擦乾眼淚。

麥基看見一個男人跪在他面前。這人穿著一件花俏的上衣，髮型也很花俏。他見過這個人。他是高等聯盟另一支球隊的教練。那是鎮上的有錢人家組成的。那些去看小孩打球的有錢家長都很粗鄙。他們都戴著粉紅色帽子，大聲宣揚自己是世界最棒的家長。

「你好，先生。」麥基說。他不太確定自己能不能信任這個人。

「叫我法蘭克（Frank）吧。」這人說。他看來很和善。

「嗨，法蘭克。」

「嘿，小朋友，你聽我說，」法蘭克說：「我看過你打球。我覺得你很棒。」

「不，你才不會。」麥克擤著鼻子說：「沒人認為我很棒。」
