Angels Batless in Oakland, Kazmir Walks 6 A's, Plunks 2
Final Score in Oakland: Angels 0, Athletics 8
Don't let his only allowing two runs on two hits in five and 2/3 innings pitched fool ya, Scott Kazmir walked six batters and hit two others. That he only allowed 2 ER tells you why the Athletics have not been able to catch the too-high-to-die Nosecandy Rangers.
Meanwhile, the Angels bats couldn't hit water if tossed out of a boat a mile from shore. You want analysis of this game, here it is: Alberto Callaspo and Erick Aybar each made errors. Torii Hunter grounded into a double play. Jason Bulger and Brian Stokes combined to give six runs in one inning pitched. Welcome back, analyze that!

Tuned in just in time to see Hunter hit into that DP, then see the A’s go up 2-0 and decided Say Yes To The Dress was a better watch.
Is it hockey season yet?
I find myself asking that question every day.
2010 is/was not a good year in Anaheim. Period.
ANGELS . . . DUCKS . . . GOLDEN BEARS

Why not put it on Kazmir where it belongs? He plain out sucks.
That is since last year’s playoffs. We paid how much for Kazmir
and he is damaged goods at best? We get rid of Fuentes and
replace him with a 26 year old player who has lots of injuries too!
Looks like the Angels like to bargain shop although, these guys
are no bargains.
misdirected rage.
zero runs. impotent offense day after day after day after day.
Kaz didn’t do too bad. Nowhere close to blame. Trevor Bell gets slapped the F around by the worst offense in baseball, and the next day you have people wanting him to be the 5th starter.
These bats are embarrassing and we have a special olympian at SS.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

10 baserunners in 5 and 2/3 innings is awful. He's extremely lucky he only allowed 2 runs.
It’s the offense that’s to blame this time, but Kazmir was bad.
Better lucky than good?

If Kazmir is as good as you claim, Angels deserve to lose! He was nowhere
near what he was touted out to be! I agree we need batters but, if the pitchers
cannot even keep it close then, Angels will continue to lose even if we get 3 or
4 runs a game. Utterly useless when the other teams score more runs than us!
touted out
That’s funny.
But, I get it … it should have been “obvious” that Kaz was broken. Everyone should be the GM, especially given hindsight. Nice luxury. Tony screwed up on this one for sure, but they took a gamble and got it wrong.
I love this team.
by Downing Rules on Sep 3, 2010 10:29 PM PDT up reply actions
well actually, he was broken when we got him. Just look up his #'s up to that point.

Submit a resume, bro.
You are smarter than Tony.
That could be a new game show on Halos Heaven… Are you smarter than a 5th grader Tony Reagins?
I love this team.
by Downing Rules on Sep 3, 2010 11:22 PM PDT up reply actions
Dude, why not just address the #'s instead of attacking.
Or is it just easier to slander? Here I’ll make it easier for you:
ERA: 5.92
W: 8
L: 7
WHIP: 1.54.
It doesn’t take a genius to know those #’s suck. 5th starter at best? For 12 million a year and 3 prospects?
by Wally's World on Sep 4, 2010 12:32 PM PDT up reply actions
It was no secret Kazmir had multiple injuries at the very time we got him.
The fact that Reagins still got him was a huge gamble. No need for
hindsight on this one. It was pretty obvious and Kazmir was not even
cheap. The new kid they got in exchange for Fuentes also had multiple
injuries so, that would make a good commercial for Angels picks up
injured and damaged players. If you are one of them, come to us and
we will sign you! Also, everyone gets a pass inspite of the fact that Reagins
made bumble headed moves. So, keep drinking up the kool aid that
Reagins dishes out. The rest of us don’t buy his crap.

Hi, hello?
Kaz kept it close, no matter how many baserunners he put on.
Offense failed to win this game for him, like they’ve done to weaver and haren. Would you care to throw those 2 under the bus as well?
Kaz is obviously a shell of his former self, but giving up a 2 spot tonight is not blameworthy… no matter how many “what-if” scenarios you’d like to run off in your head.

I was there for his 13 run massacre. He sucks harder than (fill in the blank with your fav porn star).

not harder than Figgins last October
killed our World Series hopes … at least Tony solved that slumping nobody!
That was some pretty hard sucking.
But his regular season was great! Just bad timing for a slump.

not fair, Stephen Hawking throws harder than Bulger
All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
Who was saying Naps is no longer throwing into the outfield?
What the hell games were you watching? I’ve seen two such throws in the last 3 or 4 games.
Not that it added any more to this loss, but it just made me chuckle.
Bulger and Stokes are awesome. Glad we brought those guys up to fuck around on our dime.
I love this team.
Haven't you heard..
Naps is the new jesus christ… don’t speak out against the chosen one. Any faults of his are a direct result of the evil that is mathis.

I don't recall anyone claiming that Napoli is a good defensive catcher
He’s arguably the worst in the league. Problem is, Mathis is the only reason it’s arguable.
Our catchers are awesome!
Only 3 of 4 in steals? Way to put the fear into them! Did the one Wilson nab trip or run the wrong way? Can’t wait for Naps to hit his 25th HR and drive in his 26th RBI. As for Jeff, that Mendoza line is just a little too close for me, how bout a few more 0-4’s?
I thought you moved on to Football.
;)
I love this team.

Lol! Just can’t stop looking at the train wreck that is this team, or some of the fans posts! To borrow from Homer Simpson, “these are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked!”
BBREF doesn't give refunds, do they?

Laughing, Rev, at "PLUNKS"
He barely grazed the jersey on one of them, and it would have been ball four anyway. It was called a “HBP” by the home plate ump, but it is hardly classified as a “plunking.”
While wild, I think Kaz came away with a decent showing.
I love this team.

I heard Gubi say it twice tonight. OK, Kaz sucks. Bring back S-Rod to PITCH for us… now, LET’S GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was only half paying attention, and when I saw the ball go that far, I figured the batter had fouled it off.
And then I realized that was straight out of Kazmir’s hand, I couldn’t believe it.
Why blame gravity?
Gravitation is all that prevented every ball the A’s put in play from clearing the fence.
Football is here
Enough w/watching jv baseball. Hey didn’t the rangers lose tonight? That means we only have to go 63-4 the rest of the year and we’re in! Keep flapping u crazy newbie halo fans who’ve barely felt the sting of suckiness these past few years. Someday you’ll have a tough layer of armor like us old time fans and seasons like this will just make you laugh. Love the 7 ft reliever we got! His over 6 era will fit right in w/ our new batch of firestarters! But really, who cares! Football!!!!! Aw crap I got tix to the orioles Saturday. Screw it, football!!!
Only saw the boxscore...
What the hell happened with our pitching tonight?

These guys are painful to watch
What the hell happened to this team, forget Kazmir for a second (I’d like to forget him completely) the Angels cannot generate any offense. It seems like we are getting shut out all the time, if the other team scores to runs I figure that’s the ball game, we have not won two in a row in close to a month. WHAT THE HELL!
Weaver going tomorrow...
you know what that means…. NO RUNZ AGIN!

I watched this game tonight,
At a sports bar in Temecula. Totally devoid of any fandom or hope. Don’t get me wrong, I had my GA jersey and represented, but, no runs against the A’s? The A’s? Nothing worse than losing against the A’s, unless it’s being win less against the bottom of the barrel Orioles led by Showalter. Bring on 2011! I still fault the Snuggies, and One West Bank!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
BEEEE CUZZ
You’re the snuggie that curses a team
You’re the snuggie that takes out the steam
We’re still snuggie-whipped
And its such a bitch!
No more Rev!
For the love of god Rev, I can hear that damn jingle deep in my soul and haunting my dreams! Turn it off!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
Getting to .500 by year's end will be a challenge for this team.
At this point, if and when Piniero returns, I’d send Kazmir to the pen and keep Bell in the rotation. He doesn’t dominate, but at least he seems to know how to throw strikes. Regardless, it’s hard to see this team getting to 80 wins with this offense. How did it get this bad? This is much more than not having K-Mo around.
Very unlikely Suboptimal.
However, minus a winning record, we get better draft picks, I guess that’s the silver lining. Right?
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
Like the kid who ends up in the back of the line leading to the donut table
you just have to take whatever is left (which usually are the “coffee” donuts without icing)
Send Kazmir to the.....
BullCowpen when Piniero returns? NO !!!
Kazmir needs a nice, warm seat on the bench next to Wood so they both can plan their offseason together in the AFL. It will be an awesome adventure in a place where both Wood and Kazmir can showcase their impressive skills against 20 year-olds.
STOKED ON BULGER
I recall Buldger giving up game deflating home runs very frequently last season. Glad we are re-solidifying the bullpen with auto bp HR & a guy the Mets were Stoked to DFA/trade for Gary DFA Jr.
We have a new Gas Can & Lighter coming out of the bullpen to torch what little hopes we may have of staying close late in the games or keeping a rare lead.

Now he's pretty good at sucking. Stokes just needs to go, period.
the horror ............... the horror .......... the horror
The Angels' offense needs to get in touch with Smilin' Bob
They’re suffering from a severe bout of impotence.
They lack any kind of drive or stimulation to get the job done. Their limp bats strike out when needed, and just when they seem to be getting up to the task with runners on, the inning is prematurely ended by balls dribbling feebly into double plays (and here I thought thinking about baseball helped in prolonging these things).
The Angel starting pitchers are feeling disappointed and frustrated, and although after the game they try to put on a hopeful front “It’s okay, guys, it happens to the best of ‘em. You’ll do better next time”, inside they are casting lustful eyes to the opposing offenses and thinking “Mmmmm I wonder how many runs THEY could get me… maybe some day I’ll slip between the covers of their team and not have to pitch a shutout just to go to extra innings”.
Stephen Hawking
would still look better than Matsui and Rivera on the base path.
