It’s been quite a few years since he has hit anything worth a roster spot. The timing probably means that the Angels will be adding someone else to the 40-man roster, possibly for the purposes of a September call up. Alexi Amarista, perhaps?

His playing career is more than likely done, unless he feels the need to toil in the international league. Don’t be surprised to see him eventually take Roenicke or Hatcher’s spot next to Scioscia on the bench.

Yeah, Q had his detractors, but there is a need for a roleplayer who knows that’s his job. Q did that, and he did it well. It’s also damned hard to come off the bench and pinch-hit, and Q also did that well.
Q is one of those guys who wasn’t a “natural” (though he was PCL RoY in 2002), and those are the guys who make the best coaches.
I’ll be looking for him to be coaching in the Halos farm system within a couple of years.
