I am hoping some the more knowledgeable HH'ers can confirm my understanding.
If the Halos finish with 1 of the 10 worst records in baseball (they currently sit at 11) their first round pick in the first round is protected.
I think that means they would be able to sign a Type A free agent (Crawford, Beltre, Dunn) without losing their 1st round pick. My suspicion is that if the season ended today and we finished with the 11th worst record, the front office would likely lean away from any Type A free agent due to the perceived value of the pick.
Given where we are this season (67 wins), shouldn't we be hoping the we lose enough games down the stretch to surpass either Houston or Milwaukee (66 and 65 wins, respectively)
I apologize if this has been covered previously.
