Why we should sign Vladdy......
In 2008 the Angels were 100-62 with these players:
Catcher: Jeff Mathis
First Base: Mark Teixeira
Second Base: Howie Kendrick
Third Base: Chone Figgins
Shortstop: Erick Aybar
Left Field: Garret Anderson
Center Field: Torii Hunter
Right Field: Vladimir Guerrero
Designated Hitter: Juan Rivera
2008 Angels Pitching Staff
John Lackey
Jered Weaver
Jon Garland
Joe Saunders
Ervin Santana
Ok lots of people are panicking about the 2011 season being a dissapointment, If we sign Vladdy our lineup would be
Catcher: Mike Napoli
First Base: Kendry Morales
Second Base: Howie Kendrick
Shortstop: Erick Aybar
Third Base: Alberto Callaspo
Left Field: Bobby Abreu/ Juan Rivera
Center Field: Peter " Gorgeous" Bourjos
Right Field: Torii Hunter
Pitching Staff 2011
Jered Weaver
Ervin Santana
IF the Angels do sign Vladdy we need to find a new home for Jeff Mathis and Brandon Wood.
Vladdy will most likely sign for 1 year 6-8 million with a club option.
Lets compare 2008 with my projected 2011 lineup.
The only differences are Teixeira, Mathis, Figgins, and Garret Anderson.
A Healthy Morales can outhit Mark Teixeira any day of the week.
Mathis does not compare to Napoli offensively. In 2010 Mathis threw out 23% of the runners while Napoli threw out 27%.
Figgins may be our only difference as he could steal more bags than Callaspo and get on base more often, but Callaspo has shown signs of being able to hit base hits.
As for Garret Anderson, Abreu is definitely better than him at this point of his career.
All we need to do to turn the 2011 season around is to sign Vladdy and dump Jeff Mathis.
Our pitching staff this year is of course better
Weaver has proven himself to be an ace.
Dan Haren is going to dominate.
Ervin Santana is truly a cy young candidate with electric stuff if he could work on his mechanics.
Joel Pineiro is a really good pitcher who knows how to get outs.
Our only question mark is Scott Kazmir, Will he be SCOTT KAZMIR in 2011?

Mathis isn't going anywhere.
He’ll be starting, not Naps. And nobody is going to take B Wood off our hands and give us anything substantial in return (and really, why would they? Wood is a bust ) Besides, the only aging OF we need to sign is Damon or Podsednik, then we’ll be unstoppable!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
Just throw wood into a deal with Mathis
Everybody know Mathis needs to go but Scioscia loves him therefore he will most likely not be traded
This fanpost did not answer the question why we should sign Vladdy.
????
Peter Bourjos is faster than anyone on your team.

Duh, didn't you see?
Vlad was here in 2008 and we won 100 games! Now if we could only get Anderson, Figgy and Teixiera back…

And if only all those guys were three years younger and ish.
Peter Bourjos is faster than anyone on your team.
...and the talent in Texas and Oakland was still on other teams and/or in the minors
everything would be just perfect.
Eck, Figgy, and Shields were here in 2002
and we won a World Series.
You guys thinking what I’m thinking?

Signing Vlad does not fix the core problems in LF, 3B, finding a productive lead off hitter
Please – stop living in the past, what happened in 2009 is an eternity from here.
If the collective wants to dream of days gone past, let’s sing a tune….
I had a friend was a big baseball player
Back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about was
Chorus:
Glory days well they’ll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye
Glory days, glory days
Well there’s a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boy’s heads
Sometimes on a friday i’ll stop by
And have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband bobby well they split up
I guess it’s two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
She says when she feels like crying
She starts laughing thinking about
Chorus
My old man worked 20 years on the line
And they let him go
Now everywhere he goes out looking for work
They just tell him that he’s too old
I was 9 nine years old and he was working at the
Metuchen ford plant assembly line
Now he just sits on a stool down at the legion hall
But i can tell what’s on his mind
Glory days yeah goin back
Glory days aw he ain’t never had
Glory days, glory days
Now i think i’m going down to the well tonight
And i’m going to drink till i get my fill
And i hope when i get old i don’t sit around thinking about it
But i probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of glory days
Raad family just listening to that on the way back from Wrightwood
What a great song that captures what so many of us and our friends and family go through: reliving “Glory Days”.
The guy can write him some lyrics.
Why bring Vlad back
1. At least he will be entertaining; the dude is a riot. How can you not love a guy who hits pitches that bounce into the bleachers?
2. It would increase the chances of him going into the HOF as a Halo
3. He’s healthier and when healthy can swing the bat pretty damn well with more dingers than Abreu, or anyone on the team with the exception of Kendry.
4. We miss him.

Hold the Vladdy.
Reagins, and his utter failure to sign quality FAs this off-season, has left me with a real hunger for something substantial. But Guerrero? I hate getting served leftovers.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
Just can't fathom this for another season.

A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
Because there's no other reason to see this team
Seriously, these guys aren’t making the playoffs. Or if they do, it will be a miracle. So why not bring Vlad back for some good feelings and a chance to get a guy in the Hall of Fame with an Angels hat on? He’s better than Rivera.
I guess the only thing that holds me back is knowing this kills any chance of improving our outfield defense, and that this assumes Napoli gets starts behind the plate. But as I said, if we’re not going anywhere anyway, sign him to a one year deal and let him be entertaining!

Things have really gone down the pan...
when we’re tyring to talk ourselves into bringing back Vlad…what leads anyone to believe we’d be watching 2010 Vlad instead of 2009 Vlad…remember him?
Does any of this crap matter anymore?
Might at well just send out what we got and save money.

At least Arte is close to completing his dream of become the West Coast version of a big-market, East Coast team.

true true
I should have modified this to mean recent history Stoneman and Reagins.
(Of course, I sure someone will post about ten thousand different times when the Angels brought someone back a la Gary Disarcina)

I had not thought about that.
A team partially made up of zombies WOULD be really hard to beat. Can you imagine how unstoppable a zombie Ruth or Gehrig would be in the field. They would have no fear of chasing after balls hit their way!
We
Could add beltre oh crap. what about crawford oh shoot.nevermind. We blew both of those.

It is like Samson’s hair!
If we got rid of Mathis and Rivera.
The Phillies need a right hand bat for left, perhaps they might trade for Juan and Mathis.
I don't even know if Rivera and Mathis,
Could get us the Philly Phanatic in return.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
What makes anyone think ...
that Vlad will want to come here? Reagins couldn’t get Rickey Henley Motherfucking I-Ain’t-Ready-To-Retire Henderson to sign with us right now.
