Could've Had Juan Rivera
While we were all distracted by Napoli crushing our hopes and hearts, Juan Rivera ended up being a factor for the Dodgers in the second half. Donnie Baseball points to his acquisition as the push that kept the Dodgers out of the cellar.

Juancho! Or as my brother and I affectionately called him, Foodbasket.
Somewhere in between ‘05 and ’08 the Angels used to donate to a charity called “Navidad en el Barrio”, which gives impoverished families in East LA food baskets for the holiday season. For each home run an Angel hit during the season, the ball club would donate a basket for said charity.
Juan Rivera coincidentally managed to hit enough homeruns each time the charity was mentioned on the air that my brother and I just started referring to Juancho’s homeruns as foodbaskets (corny I know).
Johnny Rivers in Angels lore
28th in Doubles: 102
16th in Homeruns: 92
20th in RBI: 337
T-15th in SLG (min. 1000 PAs): .464
His clutch 8th inning two-out, two-run single in Game 3 of the ’09 ALDS against Papelbum brought the score closer at 5-4.
He wasn’t a fan favorite megastar and his GIDP’s were a source of frustration, but he was a serviceable OF with a cannon for an arm and pop in his bat. He’s definitely worth an inclusion for the next installment of the Top 100 Angels, in my humble opinion.
It's funny Mattingly mentions that
Because I agree with him, to a certain extent. Once Rivera arrived, the Dodgers LF situation became settled. No, he didn’t hit the cover off the ball, but he was a heckuva lot better than the stiffs they had been running out there.
It just goes to show you that you don’t need to have a great bat in every part of the lineup; you just can’t have any black holes. You know who I’m talking about.

we have two black holes
one is just a lot deeper than the other

Racist.
Vernon Wells 2011 Stats (.218/.248/.412) and 2010 road stats (.224/.299/.400). The front office shouldn't have been surprised.
Imposter!
My response to your letter of February 19, 1976, is - kiss my ass.
Sincerely,

I remember many people saying their favorite Rivera memory was when he got traded for Wells
Don’t hear that now.

0.8 WAR in 62 games for the Dodgers
The worst player to change hands in that deal was also the most expensive.
Longest contract in the deal :(
but I know what you’re referring to.

We were talking about him last night
My son made the comment that Naps was greater than the combo of Premium and the BIG SPLASH. I brought up that Juan Rivera was also in that deal, maybe not combined, and was better than either one of them this past season.
Then my son said “I miss Juanny, and his frosted tips. Sniff the bat.”
