Well, Tim, you see, it takes 27 outs to win in regulation. If you are tied at the end of those 27 outs, you need to play extras.

And if you score more runs in extra innings than your opponents (as the Cardinals did), then you win the game.

Lonestarball posters were pissed off about that!

They seemed worried that it might be some sort of jinx or something.

They use a lot of profanity over there-many posts consisted only of variations on f**k. Sure there were special circumstances and all, what with cascading waves of FAIL all over the ballpark, but it was pretty tiresome.

The Angels are ill-served by a front office that willfully disregards both modern and classic performance measurements when it comes to Jeff Mathis. Astonishing, and nearly unforgiveable.
