This is one of the least likely of the million and one things that could have triggered Tony Reagins to resign, but in the spirit of KLAA's own Mike and Mike and their Red Sox Decline song and our newly formed tradition here of writing parody songs, a song must be made about our Angels' season and Tony's resignation.
Picture this (if you can): Arte has Tony in his office. Arte opens up the discussion by saying that he has something he wants him to hear that might help the team. A free agent deal? A low cost trade? No. Without further adieu, Arte breaks out this remake of Calling All Angels. (with apologies to Arte)
We need a change to fix our team
All of these defeats are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know where things are going to go.
‘Cause I feel our team drowning in bad contracts.
And there are no deals made and no safe place to put my head
And you can feel the fans pain in the words that I say
And I'm calling for you to resign
And I'm calling for you to resign
I won't give up if you just give up. (4x)
I need a sign to let me know our team will be great again
‘Cause my TV set just keeps replaying all the losses
I want a new GM to change the way things have to be.
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me.
And I'm calling for you to resign (2x)
When our team lets runners on base disappear
While players collect high pay and don't produce all year.
And our team is kissing the playoffs goodbye
And losing sight of having dreams
In a world where 2002 seems so far
And I'm calling for you to resign.
(repeating and fading as Tony packs up his stuff)
