Pujols Wilson Press Conference Game Thread
The Angels are holding a press conference to introduce Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson to Southern California will be held live at Angel Stadium beginning at 11:30 AM and is being broadcast online (assuming via mlbtv on the Angels website) and presumably on television, maybe FSN-West and maybe the MLB Channel, and hey, maybe both! This is the thread to discuss the celebration.

I know the MLB Chanel was saying yesterday that they'd be showing it
Not sure about Fox Sports West.
I thought I heard a rumor that the CJ presser
would be on Tuesday? Did they change it?

Did the Yankees move Granderson onto the market?
If we can get him for maybe Mathis and Chatwood, I’d do it.
Grab him and Quentin, and I think our lineup is set. Dude has lethal power to center.

Just got back from the presser.
Angels must have spent all their money on pujols and not a decent PA, couldn’t hear shit, gonna have to rewatch on their website.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.
people should have shut up and you could have heard most of them.
Arte talks softly but everyone else was loud enough.
I’m not sure they expected that many people either.
Vlad put up a 7 WAR season
the season after signing. Think that’s like the best case scenario for Albert?

i wanna see Weav, Haren, & Cj feed off each other and take this to another level...
If voodoo can learn consistency from these 3 then we are so golden!
If no moves are made, then the depth of this club is all too excellent.

Haters gonna be haters.
People love Albert – if they want to watch him they are going to have to watch the Angels now and I love it.
Has Joe Carter's home run landed yet?
Sorry Mitch but not really

Mitch Williams is a jackass that is stuck in the old times.
A typical baseball “war veteran” traditionalist who takes personal offense when someone brings up the notion of advanced statistics or that closers are over-valued.

Yep. Ever since we signed Pujols he's been like a little butthurt Rangers fan.
He keeps saying “Once we sign Fielder….”
will there be a replay of this broadcast somewhere?
or is it saved somewhere on the internet?
I know this is all VERY exciting, but
we gotta keep things in perspective here folks. We cannot let this over shadow the fact that we got rid of Mathis!!!

Upgrading to Iannetta is really, really big.
Defending maligned chants since 2009
It's gotta mean something-
that the fans were chanting “Thank you Arte” at the press conference- How many fans know their owner’s name in the first place, with it not being a swear word like “Frank”? Lot of devotion from the faithful today. Just watched the extravaganza on the DVR. Great Halo day!
by Jimatkins on Dec 10, 2011 3:08 PM PST reply actions 1 recs
What a DAY!
We were there, right in front of Terry Smith’s booth. Angels fans are FAR more passionate than east coast media and certain horse faced former Angels would have you believe. The press may have somewhat ignored CJ Wilson, but the fans were screaming his name and cheering him on,welcoming him home to OC. And Albert Pujols…what can you say? I cannot believe that dumb broad from ESPNLA asked Arte if he wondered if it was worth it, in front of thousands of screaming Halo faithful and on the heels of a rumored 3 BILLION dollar TV contract. Is your question worth the neverending ridicule you will now endure in LA , idiot??
I just wanna say one thing about CJ Wilson. I have always considered him a douche. But this guy just took less money, showing respect for Jered Weaver , and even had THAT back-loaded so the team could nab Pujols, because he wanted to play for the Angels so bad. He showed immense humility in his handling of this entire situation and has been extremely gracious about playing second fiddle to Pujols. He has absolutely earned my respect this week. Welcome home, CJ. And I can’t wait to see Albert Pujols light up the sky with those homerun fireworks every night!
I felt like CJ seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself and comfortable
He probably feels like he fits in way more in SoCal than he ever did in Dallas. He’s gonna be up on that rail with Weave & Haren every night talking over the game.
I never saw why CJ was so hated here other than because he was with Texas.
Seems like a cool dude to me as far as athletes go…
I woke up in a great mood; I don't know what the hell happened.

she got booed just like an espn person should.
they never pay attention to us any other time… and now they think we should just love them… I don’t think so.
I just wanna say
This event was so much fun. Yes I got there at 8:30 but I got a place right on the rail by the FSW guys. Was almost smashed by the crowd when Albert came over to sign autographs. I don’t understand how people in the back thought they’d get to the front. Anyway – it really was a lot of fun. If you are a “FB friend” of mine I’ve posted lots of pictures.
I wish baseball would start today.
I had a great time at the press conference
I was near the rail stage right and thought it was really cool that Arte came out giving high fives down the rail. Chanting “Thank You Arte” with my fellow Halo fans gave me some chills and watery eyes.
My ticket package is renewed, my accomodations in Phoenix are waiting. It’s going to be a long wait through the winter.
When do Spring Training tickets go on sale?
I checked the site but most of the games don’t have the “T” on them yet.
Early January
just checked my email inbox from Jan 2011 … they went on sale Friday Jan 14 for the 2011 Spring Training.
I think you can buy a “travel package” and that is the only way to get tickets now. Check the Halos web site.
I love this team.
