Anyone beside me hoping the Nats don't get Gio. If the trade happens, Oakland will have a lot of young, cheap talent. They won't contend in 2012, but if the Mayan Calendar is a fluke then they could be very competitive in a very few short years

I'm happy getting another good pitcher out of the division
Easy wins against the A’s this season hopefully.
CJ Wilson is OUR douche now!
Gio does not strike the fear of god into me.
I do not want them to get a haul for him. His road stats are not that impressive.

I know its sound crazy but this is what the Angels should do with Santana..Believe me I cant wait to see the Angels starting rotation in action next season… But what’s going to happen in a couple of years as the starting rotation gets older…. Trade him now and collect some prospects for the future.. Look at Tampa,Oak. They always sell high on their pitchers and collect for the future…
I would happily trade Santana for a haul like the A's got for Gio
but I think the intrigue with Gonzalez is that he’s team controlled for a while.

I'm not high on him.
He’s got great stuff, filthy really, but control is an issue.

Oakland's Future?
They haven’t been relevant since 2006, and it’ll be a couple more years at least. Exactly when is this so-called “future” that the A’s have been planning for over the last five years? I thought Gio Gonzalez was part of the “future.”
Exactly
He was. They are just rebuilding for the sport of it it seems.
Do not buy a Fremont jersey the roster turnover is unreal.

Except for that one they guy had at the HH/AN meetup.
PTBNL.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Billy Beane likes changing his roster
as much as sosh likes changing his lineups

Let the A's get better
so they can compete for 2nd place in the division.
CONGER, CONGER, CONGER !!!
I'd rather have the Nationals get him than Boston
He would improve the Sux and I’m 100% against anything that would improve the Sux.
This
The A’s still have no offense and no fans and will probably trade most of these guys again in 3 years’ time.

Yep, a continuous cycle that never lets the A's compete
With as strong as the LAA and TEX franchises are right now, It might be another decade before the A’s make the playoffs.
CJ Wilson is OUR douche now!
Wolff is mucking his cards before the ante
until he gets a new stadium.
Be thankful for Arte.
I think the A's win this one

the three pitchers are all B level prospects
and Cole in particular has #1 upside. Add in Derek Norris, a much improved catcher who gets on base a ton, and the A’s are the easy winners.

From his stats, Norris looks like another Chris Iannetta
Low average, tons of walks, and some pop. The deal’s done as of now – looks like A’s easily won this one.

Anyone betting that Saunders in Oakland Next Year?
Wish that guy would have landed in San Diego, Oakland might be willing to put 2-3M on that guy.

I blog about the Angels at First2Third.net
Oakland needs a new stadium and tv deal.
More then they need ANYTHING else. Can’t Moneyball your way into that.
Unlike this cat, my love for the LAA will never die.
If they could make the move to San Jose, that would help them tremendously.
They are dying a slow, painful death in Oakland. Even when they win, they can’t fill half the stadium. I almost feel bad for them, but then I remember that they are our division rivals (not really) and I don’t feel bad anymore.

They have the "new" TV deal, I believe
They moved from the Comcast channel in the Bay Area (which they shared with the Giants) to the newer Comcast California channel in 2009, also home to the Sacto Kings, which specializes in the East Bay and Sacramento Valley regions. FSN carries a minority interest in the channel.
The sports net, at least recently, doesn’t carry the Athletics’ full season, only about 150 games. There is no alternate broadcast venue for the missing games. Doubtful that there will be an opportunity for a new deal or enhanced revenue anytime soon.

When will Oakland stop rebuilding?
Or is Beane out of ideas now that everyone else figured out what OBP is.
Tim Salmon: The once and future Kingfish.
Not out of ideas, but out of competitive advantage
They succeeded with an amazing staff and a sneaky potent offense when Beane became a big name GM. Credit him 100% for committing to a philosophy that was untested but really at this point he’s no different than any other GM

One could have argued for Tom Milone for Gio Gonzalez straight up
LHP Tom Milone (Saugus HS!) was already in the majors and put up very nice numbers.
Nats got worse, not better. A’s won’t miss a beat.

Anderson! Cahill! Gio! ZOMG THEYRE GONNA BE SO GOOD
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
