just off the top of my head

I cant think of many other 2nd basemen better then HK47. With the exception of Cano and maybe Pedroia, i think Howie ranks very close near the top of the 2nd basemen list when the bat and glove numbers are combined. Hes been very consistent with his fielding and BA with increasing power numbers also. Hes a great player and looks like a great clubhouse presence. I really enjoy watching our other Howard, even if his acting skills are kinda shitty lol.

his WAR was 5.8 last year

Albert Pujols’ was 5.1. I know a lot of this value comes from unreliable defensive metrics (in which he was ranked as the second best 2B in baseball), but it shows the value that he brings to a team. If he has another year like his real breakout last year then I think he will deserve a big contract.

He's the top FA 2B next year by miles..

.. and still pretty young. If he produces anywhere near the level he did last year I would be pretty stunned by anything less than 4/48.

If GMJ got 5/50, Howie will easily get over 44M

He’s only 28. I imagine he’ll get at least a 5 year deal, and only $10M a year would be insulting to Howie. I hope he has a career year and finally gets the recognition he deserves. He’s been under-appreciated his whole career by the but-he-hasn’t-won-a-batting-title crowd.

That would be great. Then, in his later years, more teams can be in on Granderson. But it will spell the end of watching awesome left fielders like Bonds and ManRam play Lenny & Puppy with the ball out there.
