Mathis is being traded according to Roja's twitter feed. WOWOWOWOWOWW!
I can’t believe we’re getting something back from a Mathis trade.
does it really matter?
I would’ve taken their batboy for Mathis

Worst statistical trade ever?
Players have a combined career WAR of -3.9 on baseball-reference (Mathis -2.5, Mills -1.4)
Still, I’m happy with any 1-for-1 move where the Angels give up Mathis.
Mills has done kinda OK as a starter in the PCL.
Possibly gives the Angels flexibility in the competition for 5th starter…….left handed
This could possibly be more than just fluff.
Forget all the hatred for JMathis. DiPoto may have found us a left handed pitcher.
The great thing about Brad Mills
is that he won’t be our catcher

Not sure which post to throw this on but this one was technically first.
Prospect post on Bluebird Banter:
26. Brad Mills: Brad had a good season in Vegas (by PCL standards) going 11-9 with a 4.00 ERA in 24 starts. He walked 39 and struck out 136 in 157.1 innings. He pitched a handful of innings in Toronto. I think that’s going to be his lot of life, a Triple-A pitcher, who gets a few innings in the majors, here and there. I still think he could have been a decent starter if he had been given enough of a chance, but he turns 27 in March. Enough pitchers have passed him by, in our system, that you can pretty safely say his future isn’t as part of our starting rotation.
Who cares if he ever plays…
wondering what Ortiz did with that game ball...
I prefer the glass half full interpretation.

This description is somewhat more promising.
Fan Graphs Scouting: Bird-Dogging Brad Mills
Looks like he has been burned by a high FB% and Major League hitters just not touching his stuff but even in the majors he had a respectable K/9.

Wow!
I can’t believe a team traded ANYTHING for Mathis. Why isn’t this on the front page?

I think if a team offered a player with full blown parkinsons, dipoto would have accepted the deal.

Mills is still with the living....right?
I’m just stunned that we got a warm body for him.
From Jeff Mathis' TOPPS card: "Jeff is a defensive catcher, but he can rake it when it counts." Jeff has a lifetime .199 MLB batting average

Whatever. That works.
It’s apparent that neither had a future in their respective organizations.
DiPoto looks good…Doesn’t embarrass himself, the Angels, Scioscia, or Jeff Mathis. Maybe the Angels get a LHP who can contribute, and Toronto gets an experienced MLB receiver.
For the time being, everybody wins.
Seriously, what is up with the Blue Jays' boner for our former catchers?
Just in the past half-dozen seasons:
° Bengie Molina
° Jose Molina
° Mike Napoli (technically)
° Jeff Mathis
