Teddy’s a gamer for doing me that favor….

My idiotic rants were mainly one posting about how it’s dangerous to go past the trade deadline without another outfielder, considering that one bad injury would leave us dangerously thin in the OF…

Now to me, thissounds like a reasonable concept seeing how baseball players sometimes get injured, but to certain Angel fans, this I guess is a great insult because it assumes that Tim “the greatest Angel to ever play the game” Salmon or Darrin Erstad may not be capable of playing in the field… And well, among certain ANgel fans, telling them that Salmon, Kennedy and Erstad can’t cut it anymore is “crazy.”

That or I missed the memo where it was announced that Tommy Murphy is the next Mickey Mantle.

I think they’re especially pissed because I’ve been arguing for weeks that Adam “nearly the greatest Angel of all time” Kennedy was a blackhole in the lineup and that Kendrick would be better… Well, now that this “crazy” idea is looking like more and more a reality, well that just makes them even more pissed about me I guess.

It’s a shame, because there were a lot of good posters on that site, but some guys there just flip out when you say something they disagree with.

I also made the grave mistake of not worshipping at the throne of Rev Halofan… The Lord and Master of that domain. I learned too late that you either must obey him or at a minimum, say nothing he doesn’t like… And God help you if he punishes you for speaking your mind and you don’t comply and whimper in defeat.

That place is like a wolf pack meets High school politics, and Rev is the alpha dog, and any dog that shows up and thinks he can say what he wants gets banished.

Screw it, I’m not a sycophantic brown noser. I went in there thinking it was like the cafe here, people speaking their minds, sharing their opinions and sometimes disagreeing without being disagreeable, but I was wrong.

They also have ZERO sense of humor.

Where Halowood wants to get Lee. OK, no big deal. So Mr Kaplan makes this very reasonable point:

Thats just the kind of special Halowood was. God I miss that guy.

i started reading the site right around when he got banned.

Googling the old posts, I got a chuckle when he forgot who Arte Moreno was. Then the Rev came back at him with this: “Dude, put down the forty-ouncer and type a clear thought sometime this month so that you regain our respect and admiration.”

Now this site sells shirts with a man in a diaper.

Progress.

I can only imagine there are two possibilities:

#1. I’m so great I got a first-round bye.

#2. I suck.

That’s what JohnSamo was like every comment before clicking “Post.” The built-in, 100% predictable fury — even/especially when people were agreeing with his conclusions, but just pointing out that he might dial it back a notch — was almost poetical.

That, and his handle kinda reminded you of Rain Main. “JohnSamo, JohnSamo, JohnSamo…” He’s got my vote, because of old-skool represent, but Halowood is a worthy competitor.

He was gone before I got here (that’s the story I’m telling the cops, anyway), but I did Google him to get some idea of his style.

He’s cranky. No doubt about it. He had a massive hard-on for Adam Kennedy. No doubt about that, either.

But he didn’t present himself as anything but that guy in the upper deck, down the first base line, who’s working on beer # “one too many” and beginning to heckle the players—and the other fans around him, for good measure.

Halowood, on the other hand, was always tossing out his bona fides—he played ball in college, for God’s sake—and that meant whatever he had to say automatically trumped whatever malformed idea was presented by the other party.

Much as I love and admire mattwelch above, Halowood was a special, pernicious breed apart. He deserves to go on to the next round. Or be eliminated. What’s the point of this exercise, again?

…johnsamo was gone before I joined, which goes back to September ’06… only about 10% of registered members will even remember him, whereas the Halowood debacle still haunts most of us
