Angels predicted to win 85 games by a vegas site.
Bookmaker.com has the Angels season win total at 85. Keith Law tweeted he would take the under on this. What say you? I like the Vegas lines better than the projection systems. I think 85 is pretty accurate. Here is a list of the other teams season wins totals.

Can't argue with that..
although I would take the over… might be the irrational fan in me speaking, but I feel that this team is capable of more than 5 wins than last year.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.
I tend to agree with this
Improved OF D
the return of Morales
Full season of Haren
It will be tight though

I know they use the projections in their over/under lines
but it seems more of a safe line than one using true analysis. I would think if the Angels were the exact same as last years opening day that I would pick them to win 81 games again. From there, I don’t see how you you don’t simply add games for Kendry and Haren plus the bullpen additions. If you figure we lost alot of games because starters like Kazmir and Joe Saunders couldn’t last and then the bullpen blew games, you’d have to add from there. I really can’t see too much getting int that outfield, so you gotta add there. I guess it comes down to whether or not we improve offensively with Wells, Morales, and improvements from others. I aint hatin’ on the projections, I’m just ready to put it on the field and put some fools in check…every f’n win this years is gonna be bigger than any other year. They gonna say we outperformed the analytical bullshit, we gonna say no muthafuggah YOU WERE WRONG. Let’s play.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised to win 95 games.
There, I said it.
I’m sick of the cautious optimism or downright negativity surrounding this team because of expectations about the offseason and the exercise in Murphy’s Law that was 2010.
Into June, even without Morales, we still found ourselves in first place, 6 games over .500. The bulk of the losses we took to our record were toward the end of the season, with an unlikely-to-be-repeated influx of Minor League talent being given open tryouts like it was spring training.
Could everything go wrong again? Of course it could. But I’m just tired of the nay-saying and ship-jumping I keep seeing. We’re a year removed from 97 wins. Two years from 100.
-The number of offensive players performing below expectations won’t be as high
-The number of at-bats wasted on the McAnultys, Romines, Frandsens, Ryans, and Quinlans of the world will be reduced
-Um…one of the best hitters in baseball, in Morales, is back in the lineup. Which is huge considering he hadn’t even hit full stride last year when he went down
-Dan Haren over Joe Saunders? Yes please
-Vernon Wells over Juan Rivera’s 2010? Hell yes.
-Improved outfield D? Big time
-Callaspo > Abortion at 3rd last year? By a long shot
-Kazmir improving over 2010? Pretty damn likely
And that’s only going to net us 5 wins? Really? Hell, I can see us getting 4 or 5 netted just by Haren’s presence.

And of course I didn't even go into the HUGE additions to this bullpen
Jesus, that can’t be understated.

Yes it can.

Spring Training getting underway
is starting to charge me up with a familiar enthusiastic anticipation too.
But let’s not revise history. When in June of 2010 were the Angels “in first place, 6 games over .500?”

Two separate incidents:
First place on June 7th.
6 games over on multiple occasions…and actually as many as NINE games over .500 as late as July 1st.

Ah, gotcha.
My bad.

I don't see this as a .500 team
but the chance to make you look like an optimist is too irresistible, Jim, so I say 79 Wins, Reagins and Hatcher fired.

In a twisted kind of way, I hope you are right...
About Reagins and Hatchet, not the 79.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
Ha!
Well, if a lot goes well, I could see 85 wins, maybe 88.
I just think when injuries and bad years are added into the equation, 80 wins is a reasonable guess.

But we have injuries and bad years from people every year and I wouldn’t say they account for 5-8 wins unless its a buildup of injuries to key players and Bad years from half the team like last year.

Ok...
Add in Mathis getting 110 starts, Rodney being allowed to ‘close’, Aybar not progressing, Bourjos not hitting, etc.
80 is what I expect from this team, if all goes well, they could win 85-88. If Mathis is replaced by Conger and he hits his ass off. If Aybar is in 2009 form, if Bourjos hits .260 with some power and Kazmir rebounds….
RIP Nick...

"Suboptimist"
is probably all the unicorn-herders are gonna allow ya.
I’m right there with ya though, and apparently this Vegas site as well, at 84 and hopin’.
Plus/minus a couple: 82 – 86.

Ugh.
It’s for a sport book people looking to establish odds for gambling purposes. It’s about as useful as asking Reagins or Arte for their prediction on how many wins the team will have in 2011.
Based on the current line-up, I’m taking “under” on any prediction of more than 78 wins.
Take the OVER
