Rex Hudler and I shared some lunch, and I wore the Rally Rat shirt to Spring Training in Tempe today.
Rex says "hi" to RevHaloFan.

is that a reference to last night's P&R?

I told him we missed him.
He says he misses us too.
What a sweet guy. The first picture my husband took of us was backlit too much, and when I realized it I took the camera and wandered over to where he was still sitting after he had finished lunch. He looked at me and knew the other shot didn’t work, and told me to sit down with him so we could pretend to be having lunch together.
What with the move to Seattle, I’ve lost track. Does he still have a radio show?
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!
thanks for saying hi for me
He has a radio show on AM-830, he buys the time.

I had the opportunity to listen to PART of one of his shows last week.
Buddy Black was his guest.
You could tell that Bud had a clear affinity for Hud; it sounded as if he would have done anything to help Rex succeed.
I wanted to listen to more, but ……I had to gooooooo.
His first response when I told him who gave me the shirt was:
Are they here? Are you here with Halos Heaven? He seemed excited by the prospect.

maybe rex should join us in vegas this summer

Are you kidding me? He actually buys his own time slot on the radio?
Like advertisers do? Or did I miss understand you?

Yep, it's exactly what he does - he pays to basically be on the radio
It’s not uncommon on smaller stations to have this done where people want a break to get their name and format out their.
How in the effing world do you EVER think Riding Dirty would be on any radio station outside of a locally run one in a trailer park inside of East St. Louey. (and it’s just one of the few things that has had me lose respect for Mr. Moreno in that for a family-oriented club, there should be something you put above $$$$).
Buy yeah, it is sad Rex has to pay just to be associated with the Angels.
Maybe one day soon we get a new owner and Rex will be back in with the family.
I’m counting on it ;)
I figured "Riding Dirty" made a good amount of money, with as much anti-drunk driving commercials as they have.
Poor Hud.. I’ve listened to bits and pieces of his show, since I always work Saturdays… It’s not that bad… today they had Pete, and Percy on there.. Wish we could do more for the guy.

Wundering the same thing here.
And great photo. Faking lunch … you know what that sly dog wuz thinking.
What is it like at ST. A picnic with all your friends, or someplace to relax that has baseball?
A bit of both.
Lots of people wearing hats with other teams’ logos and most are friendly. At any given game there are a handful of NY fans but most people ignore them. At the Tempe game against the Padres we saw hats or shirts from Detroit, LA, Twins, Toronto, and even one kid wearing stuff from Montreal. I think he was born long after they were finished. The only obnoxious fans we encountered were two drunk kids who used to be Angels fans but because they now live in AZ they are now D-backs fans. the other AZ fans were annoyed by them.
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!
that is EXACTLY how it is done
he makes more this way than he would as an employee. Smartest business move he could have made. Why take $250 from the station when you can sell $3K of advertising for the show? Instead pay the station $300 and pocket the difference.
After getting canned by Rupert Murdoch, Rex is now on the path to being his own Ruppert Murdoch
What a great pic opiejeanne. I wish I was in Arizona...
I love Rex Hudler. You rock girlfriend!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
Nice, you scored!
I’d have love to been there. Man, I remember when being a good person was enough for our team. Good to see he saw that many of us still feel that way!
Way to represent!
"We are not on an austerity program," Arte Moreno
Did you ask him any questions related to the broadcast booth?
What he thinks of the current talent? Is Tim Salmon a possibility?
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
Hahaha.
The poor man was there with his kids and wife and an older couple that I think were his in-laws. When I cornered him the second time it was about 30 minutes after the first photo-op, and there had been a steady stream of people stopping to talk to him during his lunch. There were more people wandering over to talk to him both times.
I rarely ask anyone famous to pose for a photo, or for an autograph. I think he’s the third one I’ve pestered in my 61 years, and the other two were Francis Ford Coppola (he was holding court at his winery and signing stuff) and Terry Pratchett, who was at a book signing, so Rex is in extremely rare company.
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!
It’s too bad they haven’t found another place for him in the organization. He is as much a goodwill ambassador and advocate of the Angels as anyone that has represented the Angels. He’s over-the-top at times, but that’s his natural enthusiasm.
Tried to find a picture of him doing a backflip, but this was the best I came up with

I feel like that pole represents the Angels franchise
and Hud is hanging on for dear life to keep it from getting away from him. poor Hud, I so wish they could make him a more integral part of the franchise. he deserves it, and most fans want it. just do it Arte.

Hey, what happened yesterday?
Did your phone die? Mine stopped functioning right after I posted my location, I think it got too hot, and then we got too hot. We’re back in Blue Jay, and it’s snowing/raining.

I had to go to work
I’m not in Arizona. I was trying out a new mobile device to post. Sorry if it came across that I was there. The reason I asked where you were sitting was to see if I could see you during the broadcast.
Well that sucks, having to work.
I was feeling a little bad that we had to leave early and I kept worrying that you’d come looking for us.

Drove through some really nasty weather. Spent the night inYreka and now we’re about a third of the way up Oregon.
The worst weather was going up and over Tejon Pass.

The old Yreka Bakery became the Yrella Gallery. However, I’ve also heard that a new Yreka Bakery has opened down the street from the gallery.

A new bakery is good.
I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t make up the gallery name.
