This is not a post about the merits of one versus the other. Instead, I just want to point out the somewhat ridiculous love for Trumbo when compared to the disdain for Wood.

Wood: 56 15 4 13 .317 .589
Wood is only about a year older. Wood plays more positions than Trumbo and plays them all at an above average level. Trumbo has 2 more hits. He's also struck out more.
Trumbo is no more the answer to the Angels' needs than Wood is. I have faith that both can be valuable players on a major league roster. Wood can be a Jose Hernandez type and have a few 2+ win seasons (if not better). Trumbo can be a solid back-up 1B and DH and maybe have a few Phil Nevin-lite type seasons.
I would rather give up Izturis or Callapso to keep both of these guys. There's more potential, and they are both cheaper.
Again, I'm not hating on Trumbo or propping up Wood. I'm just saying that Trumbo is most likely not going to be the answer.
