Friedman > Reagins

13

Very excited about the first of hopefully many victories today! Nevertheless, we still have the unfortunate circumstance of watching more adept GMs hand out money-smart contracts to their up-and-comer stars while we seem to pay gobs of cash for guys. Case in point: This morning Andrew Friedman finalized a seven-year, $35 million deal with #3 starter Wade Davis. Only four years and $12.6 million are guaranteed, the final three years are club options. He also has to donate some of his contract money to the Rays Foundation. Davis has to muster just under 1 WAR over each of the next four years to make this contract worth it. To contrast, we owe Kazmir $12 million this year alone. Granted, Friedman made that contract, but it was Reagins who decided to take it on.
