Help me understand...
Ok...great Opening ball game, crop=duster jets aside, we lost, but it was a good game. But Saturday night [close to Sunday morning]...well that was two ball games, no? It did have a great finish, especially after sleeping for seven or eight innings [Angel hitters]....but....
Someone help me! Please!!! Scioscia has used nine or ten lineups this year, ok we've only had eight games, but Angel fans get the drift. My issue here is simple. We can win the game, couple of men on [one standing on third], one out and Trumbo is scheduled to bat. Instead, Micro Manager Mike, sends up Conger. Ok, I'll give him that, although Trumbo is hitting as a rookie [about 290] like Brandon Wood will never hit. But hell, MM Mike makes the big bucks. BUT THEN, after Conger is out....he LETS MATHIS BAT!!!! Help me!!! Am I not understanding the game? Am I missing something, Iike maybe I just am imagining this, maybe this is just a bad dream I had during the seven or eight innings that angel bats slept?
If we would have lost that game....Hunter's little league base running aside, M M Mike...would have been the reason. No? Yes? Help!! Someone wake me up.

My thoughts exactly
Instead of having two decent hitters coming up, we had one decent hitter coming up. Not to mention the fact that if they failed to come through, Trumbo still has the potential to end the game with one swing when he comes up again.
I had other questions:
Why did Takahashi come in to IBB the first batter he faced rather than have Jepsen do it before leaving?
Why doesn’t Scioscia use relief pitchers for longer, or in more appropriate roles (I think Thompson should be used more often, and I thought Takahashi wasn’t going to be just a lefty specialist)?
I was at the game last night, so maybe there were explanations offered up by the broadcast crew, but I just sat there scratching my head.
See that to me wasn't as difficult to understand...
Takahashi is sporting a 9.00 ERA, he’s pitched 3 inns, and has allowed 3 ER on 6 hits, with 3 BB. I figured, Mike wanted to limit his role until he finds his groove back. Shoot he got the out, maybe he needs to taste a little success, to regain his confidence. Or whatever the heck he’s looking for…. But what the hell do I know?!

I think it's a good thing
That Soth is embracing Hawk as more of a lefty specialist. The splits don’t lie!

True. P-47 Thunderbolts to be exact I think, based on ovoid cowl shape.
NOT CROP-DUSTERS. These are the planes that crop-dusters DREAM ABOUT BECOMING ONE DAY.
Sorry for the fan boy rage. Just the “crop-duster” crack got to me. deep breath And it is passed.

Rec'd.
3,752 air-to-air combat wins in Europe in WWII, PLUS being an extremely potent ground attack fighter. One serious ass-kicking fighter-bomber, actually preferred by many pilots over the more fan-friendly P-51 Mustang, due to it’s combination of effectiveness and ruggedness.

Nothing to see here gents
just go back to staring adoringly at your Mike Scioscia Bronzed Idol Bust that you were instructed to put in the most prominent place in your home.
Admins… can we please delete this fanpost ASAP?, we don’t want people thinking we have anything but the best manager ever…..
Should be "Mike Scioscia is the good manager ever!"
I love this team.

Trying to understand the strategy that Scioscia deploys in any given game...
is like trying to solve all mysteries surrounding the Holy Grail.

It's not really a grail... It's just a grail-shaped lantern that the naughty girls in Castle Anthrax use to lure travellers

That aside, I agree with you that some of the managerial decisions made last night were puzzling. The underlying problem is that the Angels have ZERO depth right now. Sosh was trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. My guess was that he went with Conger since he might not strike out as easily as Trumbo, but I would’ve left Trumbo in.

Lemonade
I just made the best lemonade last night with my new citristar cictrus juicer.
1 1/4 cups lemon juice (freshly squeezed!)
2 cups sugar BOILED in 8 cups water- make sure it cools before adding the lemon juice.
and a half teaspoon of salt
Mix thoroughly, pour over ice. Enjoy,

why...
Is Rodney the closer again after 2 scoreless outings?
Vernon Well's Current Average = 100 Current # of outs = Don't ask him
TY Tony!
He threw less than 10 pitches yesterday and Walden threw 40+.
Simple as that coupled with the fact that Walden had thrown in 4 straight games. Soth won’t throw him (or anyone) in 5 straight.
