30 clubs in 30 days

I am sure that those of you that get the MLB Network have heard of their 30 clubs in 30 days promotion. For those that haven’t, MLB Network will be showing 30 games in April and every team will be shown. Now, since it takes two teams to play 30 games, there will be 60 chances for a team to be shown. With careful scheduling each team might be shown twice although, that is unlikely. Due to scheduling difficulties, you would probably have some teams shown 3 times and others only once.

Well, how did MLB Network do and what teams do you expect to be shown most often? I know, that was way too easy of a question. Of course, Boston, the New York Yankees and Philadelphia would be among those shown 3 times. Buzz – only a partially correct answer.

You don’t think that the East Coast bias would be satisfied with only 3 games for those anointed teams did you? Actually, the frequency of participation is as follows:

Games Shown Team(s)

6 Red Sox

5 Yankees

4 Phillies, Braves

3 Dodgers, Rangers, Brewers, White Sox, Cardinals

2 Mariners, Twins, Rays, Padres, Reds

1 Everybody else…

I have heard that the typical major league team only has 5 or 6 really good prospects in the minors and 100 other guys to give them somebody to practice against. Looks like MLB only has 4 important teams and 26 for them to practice against.
