Any chance he clears waivers?
I figure some team will give him a shot. Maybe he can turn things around somewhere else. Good Luck B. Wood

Yes. I'm with you.
It’s really borderline tragic that this young man couldn’t get anywhere near his potential,
We all like him and he sure seemed like the Heir Apparent for 3rd.
Now he will be the Apparent Back-up at 3rd for someone—chances are in AAA.

Sad how badly he was jerked around in the organization. I still think he could have been so much more.

he'll probably go to the Yankees or Red Sox
and mash the shit out of the ball for them.
I can just see him hitting a bomb against us in Fenway and as he rounds the bases he points toward Hatcher, nods his head and smiles.

by Raaddad on Apr 19, 2011 9:10 PM PDT up reply actions 3 recs
Oh what him clearing waivers or going to the minors and working things out?
Cause we know how the 2nd has gone in the past. I hope that he doesn’t clear cause then we can move on to other third base prospects that we got in the minors.
by MoralesHomers on Apr 19, 2011 9:15 PM PDT up reply actions 3 recs
No though I think he has potential.
Im just saying I think it would be good to start moving towards other prospects since we got them. Right now we are ok at the position but in the next couple years hopefully someone else will be on there way that can play there.
by MoralesHomers on Apr 19, 2011 9:50 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs

This can probably fuel some anger in his system causing him to turn very aggressive at the plate and finally be what he was suppose to be

I still think he can do something, maybe. Let him return to his old swing and give him another shot.
by TheKingfish on Apr 19, 2011 9:16 PM PDT up reply actions 3 recs
I think the chances of this happening are zero
The Indians have Jack “31-year-old-with-a-.224-career-AVG” Hannahan starting at 3B. There are plenty of future-less stinkers out there at 3B & SS; why wouldn’t you take a chance on a guy who hit like Troy Tulowitzki in the minors?
by mattwelch on Apr 19, 2011 9:44 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
Another case in point
The Rockies sent Ian Stewart down to AAA. From the story:
What makes the move doubly odd is that Stewart has been replaced at third base with Jose Lopez, who’s hitting just .188 with a .537 OPS in 13 games and was absolutely awful for the Mariners last season. Another option at third base, Ty Wigginton, is hitting .200 with a .539 OPS.
Wood won’t last 24 hours on the market.

Vote of confidence in Jeff Baisley
Wow, I find this surprising.
by mattwelch on Apr 19, 2011 9:15 PM PDT reply actions 2 recs
I feel it probably has very little if anything to do with Jeff.
Much more to do with the fact we only have so many spots and we have to have room for Trumbo and Conger the way they are playing. Also with Aybar returning Izturis will take over the versatility role Wood had for us but be getting more playing time as I now imagine we will see howie, Callaspo, and Aybar get at least one day off a week to make sure they are all getting plenty of playing time.
by MoralesHomers on Apr 19, 2011 9:22 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
When Maicer Izturis gets hurt (it's not an "if"), we'll need a backup 3Bman
We wouldn’t have made this move without Jeff Baisley being an acceptable option.
by mattwelch on Apr 19, 2011 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
Not saying its impossible and I did say very little to do with it not nothing.
Although Maicer has a long injury history it is an “IF” still though I think and I wouldn’t put it pas Sosh to test Trumbo at third if it came to that. Idk if he could play that position or not so maybe thats not a possibility.

Same thing will happen to a larger extent when Kendrys returns I bet
Though I think old Erick is going to have to really battle to get much playing time
by Raaddad on Apr 19, 2011 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
what do you mean same thing will happen when Kendrys returns?
Sure Trumbo will get less at bats but I think we will see trumbo start playing another position or two idk. I think maybe third or outfield would make sense. Erick if he is hitting how he was when he got hurt to start the season will get plenty of playing time.
by MoralesHomers on Apr 19, 2011 9:42 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
I mean (as I said in my Fan Post)
tht many guys may see a day off every week to allow playing time for Trumbo, in particular, Hunter, Wells, Boourjos, Abreau, and yes, Kendrys.
I’m referring to what you say above:
howie, Callaspo, and Aybar get at least one day off a week to make sure they are all getting plenty of playing time.
by Raaddad on Apr 19, 2011 10:33 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
If it's a vote for Baisley, it's understandable.
Baisley actually hit north of .250 in a shitty ballpark the one season Oakland called him up. And unlike Frandsen, he’s actually a plus defender at third.

- Kazmir; after one start he`s yanked from the rotation.
- Rodney; after the first series of year, no longer the closer.
- Wood; DFA in April

We've got Mathis, Wilson, and Conger
I could see that as a reason to keep Mathis around. . . possibly.
But even in that case, Conger and Wilson should get the majority of the playing time.
