Meet Your Angels Blogger: Scottnak
This is the next in our series of getting to know the guys at Halos Heaven who deliver the goods for you. today let's meet SCOTTNAK. Scott tirelesly compiles and tabulates your pregame guesses and writes up an occasional postgame writeup. He also lurks to ban trolls, and has a few trophies on his shelf of some legendary trolls boosting of other teams meeting their unexpected demise while trying to bring their sewage over here.
WHO WAS THE FIRST ANGELS PLAYER YOU DECIDED WAS "YOUR GUY" ?
GA. Always had that look to him that he just knew how to get to any balls hit to him. Even if it was a tough play, somehow Garret Anderson would make it look like a routine out. Or if it was a ball that he had no chance to get, he'd find that best route to cut it off and throw it in like it was nothin' (to the point where people called him lazy, which was an also nice running meme as well. Hah)
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE CURRENT ANGEL AND WHY?
Peter Bourjos has taken the top spot for me now. The pop he has in that line up... and DAT SPEED!! So nice to see that again. Hopefully it keeps up for the rest of the season!
WHICH SIDE OF THE "STATS VS CHEMISTRY" DEBATE ARE YOU ON AND WHY?
Got to pick only one? Has to be Chemistry. A crappy atmosphere will eventually bring a person down to that crappy level, no matter what the numbers say. Got to eject the bad apples if it's going to mess up the team dynamics. That said, if those numbers are looking bad... please listen to those numbers. PLEASEEE.
PICK A SONG FOR THE ANGELS TO REPLACE BUTTERCUP WITH?
Damn. I'm not good with the musics. The only kind of music I listen to are poppy Korean music that made their way into Japan, and ridiculous songs that comedians made on Japanese TV shows. That said, I'd go with Kara's "Jumping". Sure, you wont know what 90% of the song is about, but it's still better than Buttercup. And perhaps judge me on my fanboyish choice there. WOOOO!
IF YOU WERE IN CHARGE OF THE ANGELS SUMMER CONCERT SERIES, NAME THE PERFORMER YOU BREAK THE BANK TO GET.
Yeah... just read the last response. scottnak has no interest in musics. I'd just pocket that money for sure.
SAY SOMETHING BALLSY / CONTROVERSIAL FOR US TO REMEMBER YOU BY...
"Baseball is Boring..." definitely something you've heard from others when you tell them that your sport of choice is Baseball! Well, honestly I find it hard to argue with them. 3+ hrs investment... there's a good amount of that chunk of time where nothing (interesting) will happen. What's to argue about that? Tough to try to get someone new into it when those are some pretty tough roadblocks.
But for me, all them intermittent moments where ridiculous plays, glorious HRs, tense situations happen... that's enough to keep me watching all 162+ games for 3 hrs per season. Wonder if that's ballsy/controversial to admit. Hah.

Do you like this story?

Scott, you sir are the reason I came back everyday to HH.
I must admit that the Pre Game Picks lured me in 4 years ago! That and the overall community. Now I come to read DOV’s comments. Downing Rules is a close second for entirely different reason. DR actually is funny.
Anyway, Thank you Scottnak for all your hard work!
Ahhh... Yes... Finally back home in SoCal!!!

Baseball is too slow
Batters should have to keep one foot in the box at all times. Jumping out of the box, adjusting your clothes, taking a few swings, etc. – it’s all ridiculous posturing.
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart - Always an Angel
That was me in little league. Never stepped out of the box between pitches, would maybe just take a practice swing or stare at the pitcher.
Of course, coaches would continually tell me that I should step out, adjust gloves, helmet, etc.
Whatever, dude.

You too huh?
I don’t think I ever called time or stepped out of the batters box all the years I played baseball. Even as an adult playing in wood bat leagues, or in a pickup game of softball. and the players that did, drove me crazy. See the ball, hit the ball, and quit adjusting your damn cup!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
May I suggest two time-outs per team, after that, a time-out in the batters box costs you a strike.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
"Baseball is boring"
Is the belief of a generation that must have flashing lights and sounds at all time or they get distracted. Kind of like jingling your keys for a baby. Adults don’t have to have that kind of stimulation.

On the contrary
Watching baseball is almost ideal for those who have learned to consume information in smaller portions. The game itself is very discrete, ideal for simultaneous multi-tasking and social networking. If young people need to be constantly amused by a single input, then how can you explain the massive popularity of professional football, which is also broken up into discrete plays but drawn out over an even longer period of time?
It’s a marketing problem, which traditionalists like Bud Selig seem slow to understand. Things have worked out great in the last ten years with all the new stadium developments, but I think MLB is losing younger fans to the NFL and the NBA. They have a tremendous advantage in young “star power” because of their continuity with college athletics. You can become invested in those sports just by going to college, whereas baseball still depends on parents to pass along their fandom to their children. Not going to work anymore.
