Ervin Santana Digs Hole, Torii Hunter Pulls Angels Out
Final Score in Kansas City: Angels 10, Royals 8
After surrendering six runs in the first two innings, Ervin Santana threw four frames of shutout ball with ample baserunners but serviceable shutout results.
As the Angels offense tried to dig out of the hole and just when daylight appeared close, reliever Rich Thompson destroyed hope all over again, allowing two late runs with two outs in the 7th inning to make a 6-5 ballgame a three run deficit for the Halos. But homeruns by Mark Trumbo and Peter Bourjos got the ANgels to within shouting distance and an inning and a third of scoreless relief by Kevin Jepsen put the star-crossed reliever in position to benefit from a coming W when Joakim Soria served up a cookie to Torii Hunter.
It was Torii's second HR of the day, and it set the good guys ahead for good with one out and one on in the 9th. Soria later saw an error lead to insurance for the Angels and seal his fate with a big L.
Fernando Rodney shut the door after Jordan Walden threw 37 pitches in his difficult Save in Minnesota on Sunday.

Hello winning streak

Rodney doing damage!
Hopefully Tony Reagins noticed, and will lock him up to a five-year extension.
I've got nothing.
His velocity seems like its up lately
I wonder if it’s for real of if the guns in Minny & KC are more generous.
I was also impressed with the long at bat with Butler.
he kept throwing strikes in the 3-2 count and got him
KC's gun is always "fast"
Dunno about Target Field’s gun.

Giving it to Torii...
Rodney has to earn it with more than 1 save in a row.
Cautious yet very optimistic about the 2011 Season. Go Angels.
WTF
I voted for TORRII HUNTTTEERRRRRRRR and it changed to Fernando Rodney?
I want a do-over damn it

Wow! What a game!
We were at the beach and they were losing.
Picked up the game as we got past Malibu Canyon and couldn’t believe the comeback!
Way to go Halos!
Love to camp at Leo and Sycamore Canyon
But can’t get radio there. What’s an idyllic spot if you can’t pick up the Angel game?
It’s no where. He’ll with Malibu anyways. It’s just another spot in dodger country.
Tell me about it.
But some days I can get radio at Zuma.
Generally the games are at night, so I’m usually at home by then. But if you’re camping, forget about it, or take the laptop down to Starbucks at Trancas Can.
My two weeks of camping and traveling during the summer puts me totally out of touch except for some rare internet moments.
Next time, try 1520AM that is the Angels station in Ventura.
I am on a horse!
or 1400AM
Sometimes they will broadcast the game if 1520AM isn’t airing it for whatever reason :)

Fraudney for panther? I think not!
Tori deserves this one, maybe this will jumpstart him at the dish
"Thanks for taking my call. We'll give you Fraudney and Mathis for....hello?"
Nothing is better
Than Torii ruining birthdays
So I have this rock in the back yard that does nothing but sit there so I named it Juan Rivera.

Torii for Panther.
Abreu, Callaspo, Bourjos and Trumbo had good games too.
I was about to ask, Where's Trumbo (Trumbomb), Bobby (4-4, 2 2B), or Fleet Pete (HR)

I didn’t have time this morning and I haven’t won a point in since tuesday
Alas, 7-0 Cocaine Cowboys, Top 3.
And Nipples hit another HR.
But I’m sure it was a meaningless solo shot.

Felipe Paulino?
Not his 1st MLB Start, his 1st of this year though.
Career 5.12 ERA and 1.516 WHIP as a starter, all with the Astros.
We’ve never seen him before though, so he’ll probably throw a shutout
Ah ok
Coulda swore the graphic said 1st MLB start….
Thanks

torii is done for the week and so is bobby, so we have to pin our hopes on mathis, bourjos and aybar.you know we could really knock this guy around if the young guns come alive for a week or 2.

Stands for "Isolated Power." Slugging percentage minus batting average
There was some talk in the Rich Lederer thread about how Bobby is just a lousy singles hitter nowadays, and that that’s our problem, etc.
Does someone know why Rodney was sent out for the save and not Walden?
Walden just needing rest or do they no longer trust Walden?
Thanks for the reply
That is reassuring to know.
Booyah, great comeback win
Hula Dula gettin it done!! The Memorial Day margs taste that much better now. Safe celebrating everyone.
I hope Rodney continues a streak of success.
Yesterday he had a 1-2-3 outing…and today he continued that with another 1-2-3 inning.

All we do is talk shit about the dude here
But he sure flipped us off big time once again!
Flip me off any time F Rod!
Damn, my pre game pick was not even close, good for the Angels
by the way, I can vote for a post game “panther” , but can we purchase a “panther” tee shirt this season?
CONGER, CONGER, CONGER !!!
What Bobby doesn't even get a mention in the write up?
The man goes 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs and you give him the total cold shoulder? Sure Tori gets panther of the game but Bobby at least gets an honorable mention.
Oh, and congratulations Torii
on 1000 career RBIs!

I really like this team
Sure, lots of inconsistencies and the vets are fading past their primes, but the kids are making it interesting while getting experience and the starting pitching can take us all the way.
We hopefully will break away from the pack. Wells, Abreu, and Hunter have to get on a tear and the kids just gotta keep doing things like today. The bullpen has to tighten it down, but I’ve seen much worse clubs by the end of May that didn’t have any chance.
This one does despite the roller coaster so it’s fun to watch, but not too aggravating because they have so much young talent that will have growing pains.
Let’s rip off a good win streak the next month.
Scioscia for panther
for finally putting out a lineup with some pop in it. no Mathis, no Willits = panther

Apparently it is still an age where you can try to “make Napoli” with your friend’s sister, though. Maybe some things never change?
