Dan Haren Gem is Brooms Away for Angels
After four consecutive series wins on the road, the Angels got a sweep, taking the third of three games at home against the Washington Nationals.
Last Night's bobblehead hero was today's flesh and blood dominator: Dan Haren pitched a 2-hit, 7.1 inning effort with 6 strikeouts. The co-ace of the staff won his eighth game of the season with a run of Halo offensive support that epitomizes the 2011 season: Bobby Abreu scored a run on a Howie Kendrick GIDP. Vernon Wells was erased on the play, having reaached base on Washington 3B Ryan Zimmerman's throwing error to 2B. Later in the game, Abreu was erased on stretching a single into a double and Torii Hunter was also tossed out at 2B after safely reaching 1B on a strikeout and seeing the Ivan Rodriguez throw to 1B sail into RF - score the play K WP 9-6.
Scott Downs left an inherited runer stranded to close the 8th and Jordan Walden broke a three-blown-save streak to close the 9th, stranding one runner on 3B with a K of Mike Morse to end the game. It was Walden's 18th Save of the season in 23 chances. The rookie righthander has tossed 35.2 innings this season.

Great victory, BUT
…has anyone else notice that Waldo’s velocity is down?
Years later, Clutch still needs to chill.

Velocity down to 96-98, at least today.
Could have been the stadium gun, I’d have to check PitchFX.

ive noticed it too
The past couple of games all that he’s blown its been in that area
Now that is what I call a fish.

I was seeing 98 mph.
Maybe he dropped from 100 to 98 to master some control?

could be it was hot out there too.
Not giving up yet... but man this season stinks right now (6/9/11)
Walden said in the post game show he was trying more to "pin point" his pitches which might
indicate he slowed down a bit for better accuracy.
"It's our money," owner Arte Moreno said.
I don't care what his velocity was since he got the save
He did what he needed to and it worked.

my bet is that greyson
using the word VELOCITY correctly is more likely than Shirley doing so.

Hotter than Hansel? He's so hot right now!

If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?

I've been saying that since the final out.
7 in a row, back to back sweeps (back to back sweeps at Dodger Stadium, too), 3 over .500, tied for 1st place. Still so heated.

honorable mention goes to Waldo. Glad to see the Blown Save streak end.

....Sarcasm for the fact of his outrageous antics :0
i figured you didn’t, however if for some odd reason you did and this were true then bc56274 would possibly feel bad for saying what he did, or maybe he wouldn’t, either way because of his rash response to a single vote for a Walden who could have rightfully deserved the vote, I would respond with and irrational statement that had no substance or validity.
haha I just thought it would be funny in short…no offense.

In other news...
Garret Richards got the start for the North in the Texas league all star game. His final line was solid. 1IP 1H 2K 0R. hitting 98mph on the gun.

Awesome game
Kinda hoping that 4th inning wouldn’t tax Haren so much as he was dealin right up to the 120th pitch. So thrilled that the bullpen held it down for Haren and Walden seems to be back on track once again.
A shame we needed these wins just to keep pace with Texas and their gift wins over Houston.

I was reading the MLB At-Bat Recap
When I ran across the term “athletic” in relation to Jeff Mathis’ dig in the 9th. Don’t get me wrong, good play, but I knew who wrote it then.
Come on, Lyle. Please don’t. Unless he becomes an OAKLAND Athletic, don’t use that word to describe Premie.

I'm glad I used my F-bomb the other day, since there are no more games in June.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
And since it looks like Fraudney's getting close to coming back, I might need it.
Who’s worse? Fraudney or Cassevah?

You want my f-bomb?
I totally forgot to use it this month. Hurry, it expires today!

Nah, go ahead and use it.
As in, “We’re f—ed this season”, or alternatively, “Were f-ing better than we’ve been”, or something like that!
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Or perhaps, "Mathis f-ing sucks at the plate"
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
We finish out the month
barely one FUCKING game above .500 (14-13)? Hopefully this team continues its hot streak and winning those series.

Don't take it personal. They did beat the Rangers once. Last week.
Meanwhile, they haven’t beaten Arizona, Colorado, Philadelphia, San Francisco or Washington.
