The Angels began a ten-day ten-game roadtrip to the heart of the humidity belt with a 6-1 victory over the Orioles in a steaming Camden Yards park populated with two sopping wipe towels for every spectator. Ervin Santana had a no-hitter going well into the 6th inning and won his 5th game of the season. Hisanori Takahashi took over for Ervin in the 8th and when Vernon Wells hit a two-out grand slam, his first as an Angel, for severe insurance, Tick-tock-Taki got his first save as an Angel by finishing out the 9th. Ta-DA! Some highlights...
- Kevin Gregg's career as an Angels came four seasons after he left the club, tonight in Baltimore.
- Vernon Wells career as an Angel was not splitting open his foot at home plate after hitting a grand slam.
- Mike Trout's career as an Angel so far is an extended postgame session with Lindsay Soto in the dugout.
- Ervin Santana's career as an Angel has nothing to do with cruddy Jeff Mathis behind the plate.
- Game Time temperature: 104 degrees and humid.
- Fernando Rodney sighted in the bullpen. Would three good appearances lead to a trade?

I'd rather see him in Arkansas. SLC kind of distorts your batting stats. Arkansas is probably closer to what it's like in Anaheim, with the marine layer.

I REALLY don’t think that Soth would let our #1 prospect rot on the bench for ANY length of time.. But who know, those who do not pay attention to history are bound to repeat it..

When he's on...
Voodoo earns the nickname. I personally like his stuff better than our other pitchers and think he’s the most likely one to pitch a no-hitter. Consistency has been a problem for him year to year. THIS year he is pitching better than his record indicates. And he’s certainly pitching better than a typical Santana odd year. I think he’s growing as a pitcher. He’s fun to watch when he’s hot.
We might just get 25 and 75 out of Big Ploppy after all.

I was a the game tonight
Man it was hot in Camden Yards, but that grand slam made it all worth it. There were quite a few Angels fans there and a number with “Friends of Trout” t-shirts on.
There was even a kid with an Angels Wrestling Mask!
