Our ongoing series of interviews with the folks behind the blog continues here with Dave, aka: Blast21Dave, one of the few guys who still keeps score in the traditional manner at games and also the keeper of the Angels record while wearing the red jerseys. Heeeeere's Dave...
WHO WAS THE FIRST ANGELS PLAYER YOU DECIDED WAS "YOUR GUY"?
The "Rajun Cajun" himself and 2009 Angels Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. Chuck Finley
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE CURRENT ANGEL AND WHY?
Peter "Fleet Pete" Bourjos gets my vote for his unbridled speed and defense he brings to the Angels outfield. The embodiment of "small ball" with some gap power as well, he's able to turn routine singles into doubles and doubles into triples. His bat is already showing signs of improvement and if he can become a legitimate base-stealer, I believe we will be seeing him at the top of the batting order followed by chants of "Lets go P-Bo!" for many seasons to come.
WHICH SIDE OF THE "STATS VS CHEMISTRY" DEBATE ARE YOU ON AND WHY?
As a math guy, I am "biased" towards the stats side of the ledger. Gives me some insight to a player's tendencies with the bat or on the mound. As useful as "stats" can be, it still cannot describe or account for the presence of team chemistry (yet).
