Sad that Branyan for Wells is an upgrade

But, at this point, it clearly is. Not sure why Callaspo is sitting. If Izzy needed to start tonight, he could have played for Aybar, who basically tried to give away the game yesterday.

We should seriously consider using Abreu as the left fielder next season, if Trout is not ready. If we did that and got rid of Mathis, we would be one bat away (at DH) from vastly improving the offense. Ideally, that bat would be Kendrys Morales, giving us the following lineup:

CF Bourjos
3B Callaspo
LF Abreu
1B Trumbo
DH Morales
RF Hunter
2B Kendrick
SS Aybar
Ca Conger/Wilson

If Kendrys does not return, then we need to add a DH. Unfortunately, there is only one obvious solution — Prince Fielder — and I just do not believe that the team will pay what it takes to get him.

I don't understand why Aybar doesn't sit more.

Callaspo and Howie are probably our 2 most consistent players this season. On an offense of this caliber, it makes no sense to ever sit those two.
Aybar and Izturis have been up and down and Aybar is insanely down right now.

I wish that Bobby Wilson or Callaspo could be the ones recieving Soth’s man-love instead of Mathis and Aybar.

I don't think he will play regularly

If he hits like he does this year. Scioscia is very patient. He will give his veterans a lot of time to get things right. But Vernon has had almost a full season now, and if this continues into next season, they will stop playing him, at least at some point.

I another thought on this…

Another place that might be fruitful for the angels to explore is spot starting Kendrys at 3rd with Trumbo at 1st. Obviously, we won’t know what we got with him since the time off, but he seems to be a pretty stellar athlete historically speaking and might be able to handle it well. If memory serves me well, I think I have heard that he pretty much has played every position on the diamond in except catcher…
