There is really no reason Conger shouldn't be catching 80% of the games if we're out of it

If Scioscia complains about his defense needing reps and we’re building for the future, there is literally not a single reason mathis should be catching in September other than to keep people from showing up.

Time for this team to shake things up. if it were up to me everyone on the team who is not a pitcher and deos not have at least a .250 b.a. would be told to start the offseason early and come back for spring training where they can COMPETE for a spot on the roster. Meanwhile, bring up the young guns to finish off the season. Anf if a large contract player (you hear me Vernone ) doesn’t win the spring training competition for their roster spot, then they are gone as well as the G.M. who signed them. Not saying I would do that every year, just this year. Good thing I have zero to do with the Angels organization or ownership because once I get fed up with failure then the actions I take would make Ghengis Khan say that maybe I should ease up a little.

The Halos starting roster would be as bare as Mo Vaughn’s cupboard after a brisk walk. …or something.

Maybe lower the expectations to “whoever doesn’t hit their weight” or in our catchers’ cases “you at least have to hit your temperature.” Then maybe (maybe) we’d get a starting 9 emerge out of sprint training.

I thought this was IT...

…when Scioscia pinch hit Callaspo for Mathis last night then I heard that Chatwood was sent down for Conger — it just seemed like the perfect storm. My head popped off my pillow this morning like a kid at Christmas hoping to see the headline “Mathis DFA” and all the land would rejoice. But Santa never came…

Seemed like the perfect storm…. Scioscia needs to just get off his Mathis loveboat and bench him.
