"They're going to give more opportunities to the young guys, which is understandable," Abreu said. "That's good. We have to win now. Let's see if they can help."
Bobby Abreu on his probably diminished playing time. Class act all the way.

A better idea would just be sitting vernon wells, since bobby's splits aren't that bad.
I think bobby is getting punished for vernon being a useless pile of shit.

Although I would take Vernon’s D any day over Bobby’s.

But with Trout being called up he's become unnecessary
Left-Trout; Center-P-Bo; Right-Hunter
There is 26 million reasons to play him, but him being the problem, is just one

Epitaph
As much as Jeff has been nonexistent on the offensive side, he’s been very important on the defensive side. But it’s tough to absorb no offense from one position.
Truer words were never spoken. Was he released from some spell?

And, yes, Bobby is a class act all the way.

I would like to see Bobby Abreu wind up as our hitting coach
Though I obviously have no idea whether he’d be any good, or how he talks to people. Just seems like a very intelligent baseball mind & quality human being who understands some stuff that Mickey Hatcher does not.
That is probably the job dicription of a hitting coach
very intelligent baseball mind & quality human being who understands some stuff
That could work-
Seems to understand the game and communicates well. I’d like to see Bobby in the organization.
I would like to see that too
Salmon might be first in line though, which I also would be cool with.

The way I understand it, Salmon was offered pretty much any (reasonable) position in the organization he wants.
I’m not sure hitting coach is what he has in mind, but so be it.
I honestly think he’s growing to like the idea of dressing up daily for a gig in front of the cameras. Ain’t bad work if you can get it.
Anybody know it Trout's call up
will keep him out of the Rookie of the Year competition next year like last year’scall up kept Fleet Pete out of this years?
It probably will
If we take the division on his shoulders he may win it this year
by Rev Halofan on Aug 20, 2011 12:12 PM PDT up reply actions
less than 130 AB's this season will keep him in contention for next year
during limited play up until 8/19 he has 47
Intersting question, but ...
i couldn’t care less about ROY … I want WS
I love this team.

Bobby is a pro
and VW should have reduced playing time not Bobby. Bobby remains a productive player with his OBP.
Angels in 2011!
Yeah - Bobby is a fine #2 hitter on this team...
Or leadoff if not P-Bo at lead off.
How does this team win with this offense? Hey, anyone....DRAW A WALK!!!

I'm sure management knows that, and will act accordingly.
I think management is delicately handling Vernon’s ego, knowing that they still owe him $63MM over the ensuing 3 years.
his damn eggo is already paid for
who cares what he thinks/feels. If he don’t like it he can quit for all I care, and I really don’t think management feels any different.
Production, is what I would like. Haven’t seen it yet this season. I’m ready to wait until next.
I think quitting would be the best option
I love numbers and you could call me a “stat guy,” even though I’m not anywhere near an expert. But this is a team of people. And like at any job, if you’ve got someone who’s not only not pulling their weight, but moping around and acting like a spoiled brat, other people are going to suffer. It’s hard to ignore.
Maybe Wells would take it like a man. Maybe he would quit. But anything in between could cause problems. It’s impossible to quantify, but I can’t imagine the results will be positive.

This whole shake up might have been an agreement by a group of players
“Soth. We would like to win as a team, and _ needs to get done. Our moral sucks because of _______ reasons, and if you can somehow do ______ we will be able to compete for the Division.”
Torii is acting a little different then from the last roadtrip. 17 game hitting streak seems to have brought back that desire to challenge for the wins as a team.
His post game interview yesterday made Torii sound like the new middle man for Soth, and the rest of the team. Not that he wasn’t the old in-between, but now he is the NEW guy. Just got tired of no body else stepping in for the cause. Maybe he just was waiting for the other players to listen to him, but now he is just doing it.
I’ve personally seen this twice with Waipio Little League. The whole State of Hawaii went nuts Where the players become more than a team. From playing baseball on a team, to winning at baseball for everyone. This is what I see happening now. Where one players attitude towards the season changes, infects others, and then the rest.

If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Very, very, very interesting.
I thought it was interesting (different) that Torii, in last night’s post game interview, AGAIN mentioned Trumbo’s HR from the night before……….Keeping the juices flowing….
at least he isnt whinning like mathis did
Are you sure he was safe? It looked like an out to the entire statium. Well bad call Blue.

Love Abreu.
We should hire him as our player/hitting coach next year. He’s getting paid $9 mill anyway, would be a wise investment.

I hope to see Bobby in Spring Training for the next 10+ years
He needs to stay in the organization as either the big league or minor league hitting coach. Maybe if we gave him a shot to work with the kids on the way up, we would see even more success from the farm system.
