Angels Win on Peter Bourjos Walkoff Basehit
Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 5, White Sox 4
Peter Bourjos hits a bases loaded single with one out in the 9th inning to break a 4-4 tie. What was his approach? He was just looking for something up that he could hit and he got to it. He said so in a boring interview with FSN-West's Mark Gubicza on the field moments after an exciting win! But there is no buzzkilll on a great day that saw an afternoon press conference celebrate Jered Weaver, a night outing saw glimpses of the groundball greatness that Ervin Santana has become, a walkoff win and even a rare 4-3-5 double play on a night of three Angels defensive double plays.
Howie Kendrick had a Homerun, a Triple and scored 2 runs. Vernon Wells had a double and raised his average up to .205 ...gosh will he bat his weight before season's end?
Ervin Santana pitched well, not as spectacularly as his recent run might suggest but decent nonetheless. He allowed 4 runs in 8 IP on 9 hits and a walk. The co-ace of the staff struck out 4 and threw 115 pitches. Jordan Walden got the win with a powerful 1-2-3 9th inning that finished with two swinging strikeouts.

Great day in the Halosphere!!
Tough to choose today’s hero — Walden, Howie, Aybar, Callaspo, and Peter are all deserving. Ervin had another good game too. Great win!

Times like these I'm almost tempted to go over to LSB and watch them lose their minds
Particularly after they got beat by Senor Horseface, of all people.
I have enjoyed watching Lackey fail in Boston
He didn’t pitch that well today, but he did win, and I couldn’t be happier that he came through.

WTF !!!!!!!……rant over (for now)

They were down a touchdown going into the 9th. I doubt the umps had much impact on the game. They should be thankful that they got to play Boston without Ortiz, Youkilis, Ellsbury, or Drew on Monday, and without all of those guys except Ellsbury yesterday.

Speaking of shitty umps...
MLBN showed a clip with another “straight up the middle for a ball” in the OAK/MFY game, including the announcers’ disbelief that such a pitch could be called ball 4 instead of strike 3.
Of course, the beneficiaries of the call were the MFY.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Oh, this was the bottom of the 9th, 2 out.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
I can't believe you've forgotten:
Opposing teams have to get four outs per inning against the MFYs.

I did the numbers on your complaint
Came up with the 4.50, and gave up. Thinking why do they even give the QS to the 6/3. You would need a mighty fine Bullpen to back up performances like that on a regular basis.
In fact, any start with more than 3ERs, period, is not a QS
or ANY that is less than six innings.
So 6IP, 3ER = QS
but 9IP, 4ER (or 10IP, even, which happens on rare occasion…I remember Mark Mulder doing it a few years back). isn’t.
And neither is 5 2/3 IP, 0ER.
I just don’t get it at all.
